I am one of those picky eaters so I usually spend £20 on security approved food/snacks when I fly WT. Having said that, the food on my LHR-EWR WT flight yesterday was really good! And I was very happy to see that almost all the items contained allergen info (I am a bit glutentarded)

Upgraded meal? Do I get 2 sausages with The Great British Breakfast!?
Will oneworld Emeralds get the upgrade for free like with airberlin? I think not!

Got to love FT. All doom and gloom and "why not WT+/J" etc.
Lets not forget that the vast majority of passengers on a plane are flying down the back. I think anything that BA do to improve the experience for the majority of passengers (read Y) on the aircraft is a good move. Today's Y passengers could be tomorrows J/F passengers (I was a Y passenger five years ago for example).

I'm guessing that paying for a meal upgrade would significantly reduce your chance of an Op-Up or POUG/AUP to avoid any refunds or wasted meals. Speaking of refunds, what happens if/when the meal is rubbish?
I'm heading for SEA in the coming months so it is something I might try although I have my first ever WT coming up this weekend so I'll decide after I sample the standard delights on offer.
