Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?

Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Prospero's guide to using ITA matrix in post 3 (here along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or less
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest. AMS and JER easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year)

Or a slightly more interesting fun run

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post (here) MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports)

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VLL via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520

Yes
Thanks Calchas. Also, they are then onto HNL and leaving from Terminal 4. Can anyone recommend which Lounge is best to go to and if the drink and food are free like in the BA lounges and LAS lounge. ^

There is a lounge for Emeralds and a lounge for Sapphires. They are both pretty basic but there is a cold buffet in both.

If they're flying in from LHR and going straight on to HNL then they'll be allowed to use the Admirals lounge even if they don't have status - I did this on my TP run when I was still a Bronze.

It has decent showers and nice big windows, but you only get a couple of premium drinks for free and then you're on to the bud light and cheap wine. I didn't really want to eat anyway as I was in between two on-board meals, but the only free offerings are snacks (crisps, cheese, fruit etc.). They have a paid menu though.

See this post I made a few months ago with some Fifth Freedom suggestions. I am based on the East Coast so it is a bit easier/cheaper for me to do the positioning flight to the Caribbean than it is for you, but it would still be quicker than going all the way to DUB.

So this is their very first trip and have no status. Will this make a difference or will their business class ticket be sufficient to get them access?

They get it on the same day as an international five hour+ flight in business class (before or after). http://www.aa.com/i18n/travelInforma...nge-access.jsp

The business class BP from the LHR-LAX flight should be sufficient, but make sure they keep it as the AAngels will need to see it.

Wasn't there a very good UA fare SFO-NAS recently? Was detailed in the good deal premium fares forum - could be handy for at least positioning to broadly the right part of the globe!

Calchas & travelmad478, I did check flights ex-NAS a while ago and they were pricing out around USD$500/return. I'll poke around with travelmad478's routing, though. Sounds interesting.

Yup. The everyday F fare on AA isn't bad though. Usually around USD$1k. Unfortunately, you could RARELY use the 777. Appreciate the thought, though. ^

Back when I was putting together that itinerary, I made a list of every BA route in the Caribbean with days of the week and times (should still be current). Send me a PM if you want it. There are a lot of potential inter-island routings, but you have to be creativen and flexible!

Maximising Tier Points BHD to BOS

I'm BA Gold. I can depart BHD or DUB (BHD is easier) and need to end up at BOS. The best route I can find is pay for my own travel to HEL, followed by HEL/LHR/BOS in Club World for approx. EUR 1450 return on various dates in July.

Is there a better way and how can I maximise TPs?

Also need to do the same trip to Spokane in August. Suggestions welcome

It might be worth creating a new thread and posting the information publicly—if you want to share it that is

Certainly. If the mods can split off this post and make it a wiki (which I have no idea how to create), that would probably be best because I assume the schedules change frequently. The list took a couple of hours to compile...perhaps there is some easier way than the brute-force approach that I used, but I don't know what that way is!

As I posted on another thread, the LCY-JFK leg of my TP run has been cancelled by BA and I will have a call to sort it out - as I booked prior to the Avios changes, will I still get credited for my original booking (1200TP)?
