Thanks for the warning Grande Annee - I'm guessing that you'd prefer a nice Bollinger LGA too?
I'll warn Mrs Sbthang about the Monopole. It's not on her 'decline list' but she'd rather have a nice Ruinart or Billecart if the choice wass there (who wouldn't?)
We'll have Mimosa's then

However, on future trips in ET, he can happily gain access into the SR.

Thanks for the info re: refurb IanAsiaTraveller. I'm a six footer, so leg-room is relatively important, however after flying Charter on Air 2000 to Mombasa in the 90's, ANYTHING would be luxury compared to the space I had to occupy for 10 hours on that flight.

Now we've set your expectations to a more realistic level I hope you enjoy your flight and appreciate Club Europe for what it is. Let us know what you think.
One thing I never mentioned is food. Mealtimes (breakfast, lunch and dinner) I'm happy with the offerings. Afternoon Tea less so, my normal advice if you're flying during these times is to request a special meal (free through manage my booking). However some people like the afternoon tea so you might want to try it first and then decide what to do in future. Late morning has a reduced breakfast offering that they've decided to call brunch. Like afternoon tea opinions are divided on it, I think it's fine most of the time.
Row 1 is getting favourable comments by those who find the legroom too tight in the rest of the aircraft.

Confirmed: expectations reset to normal parameters...
The flight departs LHR @ 16:45 so I guess we'll still be in the afternoon tea catering slot.
I'll check to see in Row 1 is available.
Thanks again everyone - what a brilliant community here @ FlyerTalk.

I know that Afternoon Tea gets slated but I personally don't find it too offensive. You might enjoy it if you have never had it before.
You get champagne on the plane too by the way. Just ask!

I hope you have a good trip. For me Club Europe has always been a bit of a disappointing treat for leisure routes. By the sounds of the new cabin ; I wonder if there is any incentive at all to book it; unless a complete bargain. I think premium seating on the Likes of Monarch with a pre ordered meal are now going to be leading the pack

You're always thinking of me when you drink it!
Ahh, that's how you add some flavour to the sandwiches. I'm thinking you could just dunk them in the cream, much easier.

Pommery used to be available in CE until a year or so ago which IMO was very drinkable.
Mrs Sbthang has very good taste in champagne
