With all the new arrivals there are also some much loved/hated (*delete as applicable) older aircraft heading for scrapping. Until 2015 most of these ended up in Victorville (VCV) in California for storage and ultimately part out for scrap. G-TTND

Why is it taking so long to deliver this aircraft? It had its first flight on 27th June! EasyJet deliveries take place about 5 to 10 days from first flight so using this as a benchmark delivery should have been around 7/8th July. BA is certainly short of aircraft at the moment as can be seen from the number of short term leases from Titan and PrivatAir so I would have thought that they would have been desperate to get TTND into service as soon as possible.

Out of curiosity what’s the short haul fleet plan for hatters with the ex ZB slots etc

i know it’s being covered by a mix of subs from within BA and outside but is there a fleet order for 2nd had AB etc pros it just going to be a slow trickle of ex mothership birds ?

It appears this aircraft may have had one or two issues. It had two rejected take offs rather than one and two customer acceptance flights according to the a320archive site.

No official announcement.

Some 319s were meant to go at the NEOs arrived. So far three NEOs have arrived and only one 319 has been retired. I’m not sure if the two extra 319s have triggered LGW having access to two more LHR aircraft though, or how long the 319s that were due to go can be kept flying.

Elsewhere on this board it has been mentioned that there is a desire to expand the long haul 777 fleets too, and that the Farnborough order may have been about cascading some 777-200s to Gatwick. But nothing confirmed.

Apart from the one ex-BMI A319 withdrawn this year, all the other A319s originally due to leave in 2018 will stay until at least 2019 - have a look at the wiki attached to this very thread. None of them are even 20 years old yet, so could certainly stay in the fleet longer if there was a business requirement.

The three 777s ordered at Farnborough are specifically to replace the three 777-200s in the fleet. These are very early 772s indeed and are not the Extended Range (ER) version that all the others are, so are restricted as to where they can be sent (basically the Middle East, West Africa, or East Coast USA).They even have a non-standard cabin layout. The new planes are for delivery 2019/2020 and the three 777-200s will go in 2020. The new planes go to Heathrow and the old planes are withdrawn from Heathrow.

Yep. I did have a look at the wiki but read 2019 as 2018 for some reason! Would surprised if they went while there is such extensive leasing going on the cover slots at LGW - but maybe there are other considerations on crews, maintenance etc. which I don’t know about.

Thanks for the other info.

Thanks for the information, and welcome to FT!

I looked at this only yesterday and the last flights showing as being operated by a 767 are to AMS and LCA on 6 November but I suspect other flights are still to be swapped to a 767 after that date.

Well on Google Flights the last is BA663 LCA-LHR on 25-Nov-18. Obviously subject to change and unconfirmed. I don't think BA are 100% sure yet so could change although very possible this is the last ever BA 767 flight.

Aha. thanks. I had searched using itamtrix and filtering by type yesterday and it only showed 767 flights to 6 November.

Anyone know if BA plan to have a farewell tour for the 767 for the aviation enthusiasts/geeks?
