A350-1000 would be too much a waste for a great plane to be used as shuttle. Imagine the cycle and non-economical way of a great fuel efficient plane used on a 6 hour shuttle flight. More likely A350-1000 will be used on long haul missions where B747 currently flies (PHX, LAS, MIA, DFW...). Once B747 is retired from LON-NYC shuttle, BA is more likely to convert some of old B777-200 into the hi-J shuttle plane. And especially if A350-1000 is leased rather than owned, it would be too expensive to be used on shuttle.

It’ll be interesting to see BA’s map compared to CX. My guess is far fewer Y seats for BA.
They will be 4-class presumably if they are going to be used instead of 744’s on the NYLON route.

Looking at that map they could go for a Y cabin of around 150 seats starting at the rear emergency exit doors/bulkhead?

BA have often used ‘too much of a great plane’ for a shuttle, B767 on domestic routes etc, and this probably won’t change.

My view is that IAG will eventually end up taking another 10 brand new A380s from Airbus.

Also it would not surprise me if they were to dry lease a few A350 aircraft from Qatar to cover the long haul capacity requirements and provide crew training ready for next year.

And never say never but maybe a couple of A380 aircraft from Qatar as well

There's a lot going about at the moment about IAG ordering a ton of 777X's, I wonder if that means a new A380 order is off the table.

If Iran Air cancel their B777X relationship with Boeing, will BA jump in there?

I cannot see 777Xs personally, although if the price was right, you never know! I think it is more likely he is negotiating for some end of the line 777-300ERs.

It's being reported that Boeing have found buyers for the three 777-300ERs that were due to go to Iran Air this year. With it being near the end of the line before the 777X takes over I wonder if these planes are being sold relatively cheaply just to keep the production line rolling?
The latest orders and deliveries figures from Boeing show only sixty -300ERs remain to be delivered with 18 destined for unidentified customers.

TTNC made it's first flight last Wednesday, looking at the history of the first 2 NEO's, it should be arriving at LHR in about 2 weeks assuming it passes all it's test flights.

ZBKS is currently on its first test flight. There have been delays on new 787s with RR engines due to the current issues RR are having but the delay only appears to be weeks rather than months.

New news about IAG making a 777x or 77W order.

IAG International Airlines Group Chief Executive Officer Willie Walsh says the European airline conglomerate will place an order for 20-25 widebody jets at either the end of this year or in the first half of next year.

Speaking to Reuters last week, Walsh said Boeing's B777X was a contender. IAG is also in talks for additional B777-300(ER)s, he said, adding that they could be either new-build or second-hand.

No mention was made of the A380-800 for which British Airways (BA, London Heathrow) has reportedly considered placing a new order. It is recalled that in March this year, Walsh said Airbus(AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) would have to be more "aggressive" in its pricing for IAG before any new purchase was made.

Walsh confirmed British Airways was looking to wet-lease in three A330-200s from Qatar Airways this summer season to cover its Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engine issues. According to Walsh, "five or six" B787s may be grounded this summer given affected aircraft's need to undergo critical maintenance.
