An official POUG is defined (for the purposes of this wiki) as the rate that appears in red on the MMB/BA app. It is NOT the rate offered at the airport (please see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ng-thread.html), or the rate offered when you click on the Upgrade my class of travel with money link from within MMB, or the Upgrade to the next available cabin blue/grey banner in the app.
  • All POUGs earn full TPs and Avios for the upgraded cabin, subject to the original booking being paid for with cash.
  • POUGs *ARE* offered on Hand-Baggage Only fares, if available
  • POUGs only become available after 48 hours of making your booking, until any time up to, and including OLCI. After being checked in you will not be offered a POUG.
  • POUGs do not seem to become available for travel agent bookings, until 2-3 days before departure (YMMV)
  • POUGs cannot be requested from Service Centres, except that occasionally BA.com will not proceed with a POUG online and display a message inviting you to call the Service Centre to complete the transaction.
  • After a POUG has been purchased, the ticket become non changeable and non refundable, apart from government taxes.

Please add to this list as required, and include the month/year when the POUG is offered to you.

MrBlueSkies, those Sydney POUGs were a bargain.

An ELO fan by any chance?

LHR-DUB return wanted ridiculous to go in CE rather than ET, but promptly threw up a 69 upgrade offer in MMB immediately afterwards.

Is there a published list of which gates are bus gates?

Interested generally .. but in particular BA T3.

For some reason I recall T3 G24 is?
Yes it was T3 G24 which had 8 gates labled A to H. The plane was at a gate that had a air bridge to T1.

MAD-LHR was around 350 after OLCI for the LHR-MAD sector, but then went to 79 the next day... good job I foresaw this and waited

Do you get more MMB upgrade offers as, say, a Silver member than a Bronze member?

MMB will offer the upgrade if there is availability in CE at the special POUG fare - it doesn't matter what status you are.

I would say yes, for TPs, more personal space, upgraded catering, service, disembarking first etc. More benefits if you have no status (premium check-in, fast track security and boarding, lounge access).

I generally always think CE is worth it for the reasons above.

And I presume this shifts at different times, e.g. there may be an upgrade available at the time you buy the ticket, or it may be closer to the flight?

I upgraded my inbound flight using miles, which was great. But now the "Upgrade my Flight with Money" link no longer works.

Rather, when I click on it, it says that "redemption bookings" are not eligible for upgrades.

Does this mean that I won't see any POUG offers? My flight is next week.

You normally can't upgrade with money online after upgrading with miles.

It's the inbound flight that I upgraded with miles, but it's the outbound flight that I am hoping to upgrade with money. Thanks.

Yes, absolutely. You could be offered the POUG price straight away after booking in MMB, or at OLCI, or anywhere in between.

69 e.w. LHR-FRA.

(normally, I'm fine with being able to grab the exit row as a OW/E on the A-319-A320 for a short flight, but decided to splurge a bit on this one).
