The SSSS system used to single out UK passport holders, among others -courtesy of the infamous Richard Reid and his friends probably.

Happened to me several times. Group of people with UK passports and other European passports travelling together: the UK passport holders would all get SSSS each time, while none of the others would, not even once.

Or to play devil's advocate, arguably proving its worth, as it successfully prevented you from boarding with your weapon/bomb/bottle of water!
