CW Seat choice - thicko question

Thicko question:

If the lower deck is only showing a couple of seats 'reserved' (20E Bassinet obviously and a random aisle seat at 18B for some reason???), does that mean there aren't currently many tickets sold?

Compared to the upper deck, which only has a few non-reserved seats, although row 64 is all empty right now.

64AB for £160 or 20AB for £120 or T-24 lucky dip....that is the question?

Not a UK school holiday flight (we are back in Blighty by then), although it is July to YVR on a Saturday. My last July CW to YVR was full of small unmanaged/ignored kids downstairs though

Can you still get bumped from 64A though because of the bassinet position?

I don't believe 64A is an official bassinet seat since 64A/B were made available for pre-pay. I hope not anyway .

If you were moved though, after you had prepaid for the seat, what would be the outcome? Just a refund of the booking fee, some mileage compensation or a seat in First

15A/K really taken?

Got a return IAD-LHR in mid April/early May and there's 10 J seats taken outbound and 9 inbound yet 15A/K (the ones at the end of J where you can get out without being an acrobat) are blocked off.

Are these really taken already? 1A and 4K on the 767 (my favourite) are rarely booked up and I guess I get first chance at them being gold and having to endure a 777 flight is bad enough but I just can't imagine there's two other golds on both these legs with so few other seats already taken.

Worth a call to BAEC?

They are bassinet seats. If no one gets them booked ahead atime they are open 24 hrs in advance.

I tried that for a LHR-MIA flight I had last month and they refused. "Computer says no". I was told I'd have to scrum at 24hrs with the rest of the passengers. Was I just being fobbed off?

I got the same "wait until 24 hours before" line from BAEC today, yet reliable sources tell me that it's 15E that's the bassinet spot in CW on a 777 and http://www.thebasource.com/777f14j48w40y122seatmap.html backs that up too, yet MMB shows 15A/E/K all being bassinets:

I know I've grabbed 15A/K well before T-24 on a 777.

I've found that they sometimes show up as available in MMB a bit before the 72 hour mark, but if I request them by phone then I'm consistently told they can't be allocated. Waiting for the 72 hour mark and phoning back has then worked. If you've reached the actual 72 hour mark then, as others have said, try again.

Feedback

Just looking for feedback. Family of four (kids 8 and 7) traveling CW from LHR-JFK on 747. I picked 63-64 A and B. Seems to be the nicest option. Wanted the upper deck am sure kids will enjoy that. Best choice?
