Hard W Seats

So I know people have talked about the hard seats in W, but I never really experienced that (not that I haven't experienced W, I have, plenty, but never found the seats to be that hard.)

Until last week when I had the misfortune to be on the 268 in 28B. That seat was like a rock. And not helped by the fact we were on the plane for over three hours before push back.

So, are the Hi-J W seats harder than Mid-J seats? Are the single seats (28B, 28J) harder than the "usual" W seats? Or are they really all the same and I just felt it more for some reason?

(And I'm pretty sure I have gained built-in padding in that area rather than losing some!)

the sooner the new seats are rolled out system wide the better, it's a shame it still does not like it's planned to be anytime soon, if ever

What are the new seats like? I traveled WT+ from LHR-SIN-SYD in August. That's on a 777-300ER. I found the WT+ seats to be really uncomfortable. I placed the blanket and the cushion on the seat, but never managed to get comfortable for the entire 20 hrs flying time.

I am guessing, but some exit row seats are harder... I have always found (the old) wt+ seat to be firm.... and I have taken a pillow with me a few times!

Thanks for replying.

If those at the new seats, then there is surely no benefit in rolling them out throughout the rest of the fleet. Part of my flight over was on a 747 with quite an old IFE. I'm assuming that was one of the old seats. I think it was a little more comfortable than the new one.

I suspect seat comfort is a personal thing. It must be impossible to provide a seat that is comfortable to all.

I flew new WT+ yesterday and found it very comfortable indeed. I had been fretting about the lack of UuA and resigned to 'making do' with WT+. But in the end, I had a very pleasant journey.

Hard WT+ seats
Absolutely agree about the seats - very uncomfortable - the big advantage is the extra width but if it's a choice between WT+ and an emergency row 28 on the 747 in economy I'll go for that as can rest my feet on my carry-on.

Too bad that status with BA only extends to selecting the seat in advance, not the girth of your neighbour.

Am trying WT+ on the 787 this week (cheap client paying my ticket) and will report. Am I alone in thinking the 787 interior seems horribly cheap and plasticky? I guess it's all about lightweight composites. Good video screens in J though.

I often fly in WT+ (it's the highest my employer will pay for) and have always found the seats to be uncomfortably hard. A couple of weeks ago I was D/G'ed to WT and was very surprised to find that the seats in WT are far more comfortable.
I thought I preferred WT+ because of the extra legroom but an exit row in WT is far better, although it's a dangerous game to always aim for the exit row..in case it goes horribly wrong! At the very least it made me think twice about WT+ and even my future plans for flying on BA.

(edit) And I agree that the new seats are worse than the old ones. I was excited to try them for the first time but they're yet another BA 'enhancement'

Most, including me find them v comfortable indeed and a big step up from the older seat, there are a few who have stated they prefer the old seat, so as with everything on here YMMV!

I flew LHR-SIN in the new WT+ earlier this year and got at least 6h sleep ... hardly needs to be said, I thought the seat was great.

Let me be a little more blunt!

On a 747, has anyone found the single/exit row seats different in terms of rear-end padding from the others on a 747?

I wouldn't think so as the cushions are all the same.
