Seriously, if I pay 3 grand for a flight and I am concerned I will be dehydrated by lack of water on board, I will take as much bottled water as I need (glass bottle is the issue) from the lounge. I have found BA getting better at supplying botttles on board anyway lately so no need.

My point was that the water should be procured from a tap in a public toilet, and not from the hallowed lounge sources.

I'm currently feeling dehydrated after a sprint to the gate (gate 36 is a LONG way) and a delayed take off as they can't find a bag they need to offload. Should have bought a bottle from the lounge.

There was this one time at some airport in China (can't remember which one, somewhere in the south probably and flying Air China) where they wouldn't let me in the lounge because the flight was already boarding. So I was straightforward with them and made it clear that the only reason I wanted to go in was to get a can of Coke and some snacks. So they've let me in without even scanning my boarding pass and I was back out in less than one minute with a can of coke and 2 packets of crisps

And all for a 2.5 hour flight. Just ask on board, they'll give her as much as she wants.

How about drinking the 3 or 4 bottles in the lounge first?
The risk of dehydration on a short flight thereafter would be negligible; especially if she were to avail herself of the water offered to all on the flight.
No need for any special asking anywhere.

I think we're going in circles here. She won't ask on board because, as you said earlier, "she's the type who doesn't like to ask" but if she wants to take it from the lounge "of course she would ask".

I meant she doesn't like to ask on board, as in she prefers to just sit down close eyes and only open then when she wants to take a drink - she doesn't want to have to ask for a drink when she wants one, she'd rather it just there for when she wants it, and not have to wait to call someone, wait for them to come, wait for them to go, then wait for them to come back again with said water.

A bit of misunderstanding here - my fault I think.

I wouldn't take them from the lounge but would buy them in the terminal. Maybe pedantic, but that's just the way I feel would be the appropriate thing to do.
