Recent trip in F to JFK and back - 4A 777 going out - didn't bother with PJs as wasn't sleeping v much. Donned PJs on way back (1A on 747). For full disclosure I am definitely an underwear ON person (although no need to have t-shirt under PH top for me.
To my horror the guy in 1K got changed in his seat. I was not impressed.

I last experienced it from DXB to ZRH on LX were the guy changed into his PJs for everybody to see things I would have rather not seen. (Hint: No Underwear). We came to the conclusion that we are quite a few people who have experienced it at least once.
(A support group is in the process of being set up)
Im not sure why this happens so frequently on LH and LX compared to other carriers, but Im certain itd provide information for an amazing sociocultural study if anybody ever wanted to do that...
On the topic of underwear or no underwear: Im a no underwear guy, luckily the PJs on LX are rather optimal for that.

In Germany and the German speaking part of Switzerland nude bathing, saunas etc are common. There's a "beach" on the Rhine in Basel where you can sunbathe in the nude if you wish. It's quite popular. Although not easily visible from the bank as you walk past, it's very visible when you're in the river, which we often are in the summer.
So ... it's a cultural difference where many people just don't see their naked body as something to be kept private. However, as a Brit, I've not used the naked beach and do look out of curiosity each time I swim/float past in the river.
As for this particular topic, I've never flown F so the dilemma hasn't occurred. I'd probably take the pyjamas as a souvenir and sleep in my jogging pants and loose fitting t-shirt that I boarded in. That's what I do in Y or CW. Unless there's a shower on board I can't find the point in changing.

I, as a Swiss, have not used such a thing ever and am not planning to, nor does anybody I know.
So I disagree that it is just a cultural thing...

I've been to several gyms in German cities and was a bit amused that signs require wearing bathing suits in the pool and on the pool deck, but demand nudity in the sauna area (including walkways, decks, steam rooms, saunas, hot tubs, etc.), which is mixed gender. In Munich people widely go naked in the main park and along the river. I admit I was a bit surprised when I rounded a corner and came onto a 250lb German man grilling sausages for his family in the park.
So I suppose it's reasonable no one would think it unusual to change naked at one's seat, or to take offense at it.

I enjoyed the film and the song and the sentiments of the lyrics run with the PJs for me...

As free as the grass grows
