Ground transfer from CGH to GRU

Recently booked rewards ticket through Aircanada website from Rio (SDU) to YYZ. My connections included airport transfer at Sao Paulo (CGH to GRU).

SDU--->CGH (3.35hrs)--->GRU--->MTL--->YYZ.

I am wondering what are my options to change the earlier flight from SDU to CGH or to GRU or any insight how long it takes to transfer from CGH to GRU by taxi ?

SDU to CGH is Azul Airline.

Thanks in advance.

Did you check if any availability to GRU?

Google map shows a one hour drive. I would have expected more. May depend upon traffic though.

In Sao Paulo, everything that is related to road traffic is a guessing game. A bus or taxi from CGH to GRU usually takes about 40 minutes, but I've also sat in traffic for over two hours. If you have to pick up luggage at CGH, get ground transportation and check in again at GRU, 3 hours is pushing it.

I would always book into GRU directly, if available, unless I had a six hour window.

What time of day would you arrive at CGH?

i opted to this itinerary because eUp upgrade was available,so booked 2 business and 1 economy. Now i see earlier flights available from SDU to CGH with 5hrs transfit time.

As this thread is a question about ground transportation from one airport to another, and not actually a question about AC, I'm moving this to the Brazil forum.

I've taken the morning GOL shuttle bus 40 minutes between GRU - CGH and also sat in a taxi for over two hours with traffic during a rain storm.

6.10 pm on Sunday.
By the time you're out of CGH, it'll be 7pm. That's the end of rush hour during a weekday but not bad on a Sunday. People come back from the beaches, but it's winter and that's more east-to-west traffic, while you're going north.

With all this, you should be able to make it quite reliably in less than an hour (barring any unforeseen circumstances, of course).

I'm hoping the same but i will be there in Nov. I will try with Aeroplan CS if i can change any earlier flight without penalty.

This is one of the reason i am trying to avoid the ground transfer. You never know what to expect again my whole trip is one itenary . I will try to change SDU-CGH leg.

you can take 45min between both airports or 2h. It will be a gamble. If weekend and off rush hour, you can make it easily. If working day and rush hour, you'll need quite a bit of luck. And I'm not factoring accidents or other "unexpected" events leading to traffic jams

Just get a Uber/Taxi from CGH to GRU, don't try any of the public transportation since this is a very messy route to take (lots of bus/train/subway connections). 3 Hours will be tight.

I am trying to change but Aeroplan is not showing that option. I might call Aeroplan CS to see or call Azul to change.

I sent you a private message containing an Airbnb thats excellent. If you want to stay in a hotel, with safety and the kids in mind, I recommend the Promenade Palladium (best neighborhood but no recreation), the Sheraton (good recreation but requires transportation), the Hyatt (good recreation but far from everything), and lastly the Fairmont and the Copacabana Palace which are excellent but the neighborhood is run down.

I think the main attraction for the kids will be playing on the beach or the pool, the views on Sugarloaf mountain and Corcovado are breathtaking, but I dont think the kids will like it as much as the adults.
