Walking in Copacabana/Ipanema beach, let the kids play in the sand while you enjoy the sun and a cold beer/coconut water.
Also you cant miss the Colombo bakery ( Confeitaria Colombo in Portuguese). Theres this bar/restaurant called Boteco Belmonte, it serves good food and its great for tourists.
And of course, the most famous Rios tourist place, Christ the Redeemer.

I called Aeroplan and they helped me to change the flight. Now I don't have airport transfer in my new itinerary (RIO-->GRU by GOL)

I'm flying from Rio to Iguacu Falls on Monday, 3 October, unfortunately the itinerary involving a transfer from CGH to GRU was the only sensible option time and price wise. I'll arrive at CGH on LATAM at 11:45am, departure from GRU is at 16:20. I understand that LATAM offers a shuttle bus every hour, but I don't see that I can reach the 12pm departure. Or do the shuttle busses tend to run a bit late? Would the 1pm shuttle bus still be sufficient to arrive in GRU on time? If not, are there any other busses or would I have to take a taxi? Can someone share any recent experiences with the shuttle bus or the transfer in general? And is there anything else I should keep in mind? Thanks a lot for your advice!

The GOL site says the GOL bus between GRU & CGH is not operating. Is this current information?

Is the LATAM bus still operating?

And what does one need for these buses? Obviously ticket to and out of each airport on the same carrier, but what about only one leg? If I come in on XXX carrier and fly out on YYY carrier, will that work too to take the bus? What exactly are the bus drivers looking for?

I've never done any airport transfers in GRU though I know people who have. They all say the same thing: go private. It will increase your cost (and apparently they charge based on weight of the bags), but the experience is much nicer.

Also, FYI, CGH is a much easier transfer than VCP to GRU due to the latter's greater distance

Is there any update on transfers between GRU/CGH? Specifically, I plan to arrive at GRU early Christmas Day morning via LATAM and transfer to CGH for a flight on GOL to SDU in Rio. Any suggestions on the best or easiest way to accomplish this, and a time estimate if possible, would be greatly appreciated. TIA to any and all responses.

How long is the layover?

I would suggest you to take the bus called "airport bus service" that runs between both airports, if you are by youself, otherwise, would recommend taking a uber (Black, if you have lugagge with you). The ride between airports should take 90 minutes by bus, and I recommend AT LEAST 5 hours to do so (immigration, picking up the lugagge, customs, buying tickets for the bus, waiting for the next bus, eventual traffic, check in at CGH, security, etc...).

I strongly recommend that you don't use public transportation, as CGH is really poorly served by it.

The best and easiest way is to change the flight to depart from GRU, either the existing flight or buy a new flight if its ok to no-show. Otherwise uber to CGH.
