Any ideas on how to make this work as we can definitely see availability in the appropriate fare class using Expert Flyer.
You need to go to lufthansa.co.uk, log into your M&M account (create one if you haven't already got one), go to flight booking and select multi-city. I find the easiest way is to enter all 6 segments individually. Note that the 6 segment thing will only work (from my experience and the comments of others) by using GVA as the gateway to/from BCN. So your routing will need to be something like LON-ZRH-GVA-BCN-GVA-ZRH-LON. To do this with 6 segements you will need an over night stop somewhere, either BCN, GVA or ZRH. Max you can do in 1 day is 5. At the booking stage you can view a seat map and select seats.

Note this original thread on the topic:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/bmi-d...ondon-too.html

You don't actually need a M&M account though - you can just use the 'muti-segment journey' page instead (link is below the normal booking form). Saves risking any miles going to the wrong place.

As mentioned above, the only six segment route that seems to be bookable at a nice price, is LON-ZRH-GVA GVA-BCN BCN-GVA GVA-ZRH-LON.

What seems to be the issue is that we can't get the LH website to price correctly. LX with 4 segments works perfectly.

In our case, I'm not actually booking an MR as I want to go to BCN for a couple of days to catch up with friends. Just wanting to use the opportunity to see good friends and do an MR at the same time. (in my case, I don't need the miles, although my SO could do with putting a few in the bank)

Well aware of the fare basis. That is not the issue. It's getting the LH website to push the fare basis into J and by default it keeps pushing things into C and D class despite J class availability being there on the flights in question.

Grr!! The LH website is pants, although Opodo, Expedia and Travelocity are worse as they don't appear to like putting together multi segment trips with 6 segments in total.

I don't know what dates you're looking at but I've just found the following works:
Fri 3 Apr 17:15London, Heathrow 19:55Zurich LX325 3h05 Business (J)
Fri 3 Apr 20:35Zurich 21:20Geneva LX2816 Business (J)
Sat 4 Apr 07:10Geneva 08:30Barcelona LX1940 1h20 Business (J)
Mon 6 Apr 09:10Barcelona 10:45Geneva LX1941 1h35 Business (J)
Mon 6 Apr 18:55Geneva 19:45Zurich LX2815 3h10 Business (J)
Mon 6 Apr 20:25Zurich 21:05London, London City

229
Note that the fare initially shows as (C) during each segment selection and only reverts to (J) on the final page (when it also shows the price).

I've not been able to find any earlier flight on a Friday to price up so this might be the problem you're having?

1) Go to the Lufthansa.com site (UK page)
a) select the Booking tab
b) select multi-segment journey (in How do you want to travel, near top of form)
2) a) Enter Flight 1 as LON to GVA
b) Enter Flight 2 as GVA to BCN
c) Enter flight 3 as BCN to GVA
d) Enter flight 4 as GVA to LON
e) select dates as appropriate
f) Select class as Business
3) Select flights, being careful to select LX flights (NOT!! LH flights)
a) select Lon-Gva via ZRH, and GVA-LOn via ZRH
b) select GVA - BCN direct, select BCN-GVA direct

example
Sat 4 Apr 06:00London, Heathrow 08:40Zurich LX345 3h25 Business (J)
Sat 4 Apr 09:40Zurich 10:25Geneva LX2804 Business (J)
Sat 4 Apr 18:20Geneva 19:45Barcelona LX1946 1h25 Business (J)
Sun 5 Apr 09:10Barcelona 10:45Geneva LX1941 1h35 Business (J)
Sun 5 Apr 15:05Geneva 15:55Zurich LX2813 3h40 Business (J)
Sun 5 Apr 17:00Zurich 17:45London, Heathrow LX326 Business (J)
Price
100.00 + 129.70(taxes) x 1 Adult = GBP 229.70

The bookings are certainly filling up, and on more and more flights it will warn you that there may not be availablity - so select another date or flight!

(I have just test-booked the example given above, while writing this message, so I know it can be done)

Found the solution!

Sadly because of POS (point of sale issues), you cannot just pick up segment by segment easily as availability from one origin/destination is different to another. In our case, you need to ensure you know all availability based on complete route and sale point city. Hopefully this makes sense to the less geeky of you out there.

The way we ended up getting the JCRAZYUK fare but we had to do the following:

1. Log into Expert Flyer

2. Put in LON/BCN as start/end routes and use GVA/ZRH/BSL interchangeably and in different orders as connection routes and ensure the following:

a. 2 connections as minimum
b. don't interline
c. limit to show only J class (remembering that JC means there is no availability and looking sector by sector does not work due to the limitations discussed above)

3. Once you pick the routes, then use LH.com to pick routes individually as stated by jbfield

4. LH will then price up accordingly (but sting you with LH vs LX charges which sadly are slightly higher).

In our case, we paid 230 each (100 airfare + 130 in taxes/surchages) which I think is very reasonable.

Hope this helps other looking for these fares.

I can not understand why there is a problem in booking these
It is pretty straigt-forward using lh.com multi-segment, provided you know which exact flights to select, which can be achieved by ITA/Expertflyer/KVS etc.

I repeat, the VALID routing is only:
LON-ZRH-GVA-BCN
or
LON-ZRH-BSL-BCN

So you WILL have to follow that routing to get the JCRAZYUK fare on both outgoing and incoming legs. Any other combination will NOT work.

The EASIEST way is to use ITA to find the exact routing.
Try:

LON:: ZRH LX LX / f bc=j
BCN:: LX LX ZRH / f bc=j

put in the desired dep and rtn dates, pos=lon, tick the availability box, select cheapest available.

It will give you the results, click on details, click on show booking details and you will see the fare basis. It should be JCRAZY on both legs, then you know it is the cheapest fare possible. If not, then try with a different date.

I think the difficulty came because Traveloguy was using ExpertFlyer to search for availability for each individual segment. If they searched for the farebasis on, for example, the segement GVA-BCN they'd get no result because the initial leg from LON was also required to be mentioned, as according to the farerules.

It makes sense to search for availability in this manner because it would be a lot quicker to see all possible options, however on this occasion, because of the specifics of the farerules, it wasn't possible.

Is the 24th March really the last opportunity to book this deal? Can a stopover of more than 1 day be incorporated at GVA?

Exactly!

Searching using a group of segments against a class was the only way to get it to work.

Remember J class on one group of segments (e.g. LHR-GVA-ZRH) is not necessarily the same as J on each individual sector. In my case this is what initially killed my search. Using the 1 or 2 minimum segments in Expert Flyer sorted the search problem out.

Well, I just didn't have time to deal with and make a booking, or the time to actually do the run. The fare has gone now. Do you think another offer like this will come along, or was it a one-off?

Not exactly a MR, but it's a fair few miles on a fairly decent airline with a fare that doesn't come up very often:

SQ cut C class price 50% ex-UK

I priced up LHR-SIN-CHC-SIN-LHR in D for 2230.
Note 1.5x miles earning.

Fares bookable until end of TODAY, 1st April only *(This is not a joke)!
