'Free Petrol' campaign : Fuel Surcharges Axed: Fares Tumble

Looks like bmi have axed their fuel surcharge on all ex LHR short haul routes.

This has created some fantastic baseline fares the like of which have not been seen for a good few years:

£40 return to Palma
£50 return to Manchester
£58 return to Brussels

I guess this means we can expect to see all these routes vanish after this season!

I was wondering why the price for a flexible Y ticket from LHR-MAN had gone down from £169 to £150....

Good news I'm guessing - more miles for fewer pounds!

The cynic I am, I was about to post-

because they can afford to drop the £5 YQ and put the base fare up £3. Per the list above LHR-BHD has dropped from £39 to £37.

On checking flybmi.com however, the fare is actually £34; so their marketing material is, as we are quite accustomed to, a fu.......uh......wrong.

I can't see them dropping the £271 on LAS to a more reasonable level any time soon

Thinking about the cost to bmi of running this promotion; maybe they've been saving up their Tesco '5p/litre off' coupons.
