I wondered whether Joanna could officially confirm that America West flights (US code, America West operated) are now eligible for mileage accrual?

Yes flights taken with America West are valid for miles within diamond club.

Now that the US/HP computer systems have merged, even though a flight maybe operated by "America West", all the flights now have US flight numbers, so getting credit with your preferred *A carrier is definitely not an issue.

My US Air flights actually posted as "HP" flights, even though HP is not a DC partner let alone *A partner.

They have to post it as HP becuase the HP and US certificates have not been merged. Once they complete the merger process HP flights will be posting as US.

Just rang DC to ask this very question and was told "We don't know", despite escalating to a supervisor.

Go to FT, do a search and the answer is there within seconds.
