I just want to clarify the offer for you all, it was a targeted promotion.

The offer is very generous and you will earn your usual miles and either double or triple destinations or status miles depending on which to choose.

A Silver member travelling LHR-EDI would earn the following:

Economy (Double Status Miles Bonus)
B – 900 base + 1800 bonus = 2700 status miles (+ 1050 destination miles)
M, U - 600 base + 1200 bonus = 1800 status miles (+ 750 destination miles)
H, O, G, Q, V, W, S, T, N, E, L, K – 300 base + 600 bonus = 900 status miles (+ 450 destination miles)

Economy (Double Destination Miles Bonus)
B – 900 base + 1800 bonus + 150 Silver bonus = 2850 destination miles (+ 900 status miles)
M, U - 600 base + 1200 bonus + 150 Silver bonus = 1950 destination miles (+ 600 status miles)
H, O, G, Q, V, W, S, T, N, E, L, K – 300 base + 600 bonus + 150 Silver bonus = 1050 destination miles (+ 300 status miles)

Business (Triple Status Miles Bonus)
J, C, D, Z, P, I, Y – 1200 base + 3600 bonus = 4800 status miles (+1350 destination miles)

Business (Triple Destination Miles Bonus)
J, C, D, Z, P, I, Y – 1200 base + 3600 bonus + 150 Silver bonus = 4950 destination miles (+ 1200 status miles)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A Gold member travelling LHR-EDI would earn the following:

Economy (Double Status Miles Bonus)
B – 900 base + 1800 bonus = 2700 status miles (+ 1110 destination miles)
M, U - 600 base + 1200 bonus = 1800 status miles (+ 810 destination miles)
H, O, G, Q, V, W, S, T, N, E, L, K – 300 base + 600 bonus = 900 status miles (+ 510 destination miles)

Economy (Double Destination Miles Bonus)
B – 900 base + 1800 bonus + 210 Gold bonus = 2910 destination miles (+ 900 status miles)
M, U - 600 base + 1200 bonus + 210 Gold bonus = 2010 destination miles (+ 600 status miles)
H, O, G, Q, V, W, S, T, N, E, L, K – 300 base + 600 bonus + 210 Gold bonus = 1110 destination miles (+ 300 status miles)

Business (Triple Status Miles Bonus)
J, C, D, Z, P, I, Y – 1200 base + 3600 bonus = 4800 status miles (+1410 destination miles)

Business (Triple Destination Miles Bonus)
J, C, D, Z, P, I, Y – 1200 base + 3600 bonus + 210 Gold bonus = 5010 destination miles (+ 1200 status miles)

I hope this clears the promotion up for you all.

Yes thanks from me too. And apologies for doubting the wording...

So I need 22k for my 10th year of BD*G. EDI-BSL in Z is 433. Sorted.

Well, debated it a bit, but figured I'd like to ensure I secure BD*G for a further year, and booked myself a little ABZ - LHR - BSL and back, 22K status miles, lovely jubbly.

Doing EDI-LHR-BSL myself return, and I have to say, for 433 Pounds, getting 22k status miles... that's just amazing. I also have a trip planned to the USA that'll earn 10k miles, and on top of my 9k already banked, i'm renewed for another year. Thanks bmi!

If I am to travel on LX flight numbers operated by BD (e.g. BSL-MAN), would I still be eligible for the promotion? Surely some of you must have some experience with these codeshare situatons re promotions.

In the reverse sense, last year, when I have signed up at Miles & More for LH/LX promotions and have subsequently traveled on BD flight numbers operated by LH, I have received the full promotion credit, as well as segments towards the 30 flight FTL promotion at M&M.

I had understood that with Star Alliance it is operating carrier which counts, but I am not sure if it is the same with all participating airlines and FFPs.

That sounds like it's just a Lufthansa flight with a BD codeshare. BD, however, actually operates certain LH and LX flights on behalf of the respective carrier, rather than a simple codeshare. As far as frequent flyer programmes are concerned, those flights are LH/LX flights, not BD flights, so I would imagine you won't get any bonus points with this DC promotion.

I need some status miles to retain BD *S so what I might do is take the short EI hop DUB-MAN-DUB (there is some crazy prices BD DUB-LHR-DUB, have a look if your looking for a laugh, it ain't pretty!) and then MAN-BSL-MAN on a Z fare. Can I get the help of a resident expert to make sure I have calculated the status miles MAN-BSL correctly: Z - 1,600 base + 4,800 bonus = 6,400 status miles?

Yep, that should be correct - you ought to get 12,800 for a round-trip.

Of course, if you can find any reasonably-priced DUB-LHR-BSL return flights (I see some for 477, for instance, although the times may not be great), you'll get a total of 25,600 miles for relatively little extra outlay. But I suppose you'd need a good few extra miles if you wanted BD*G - you'd maybe a trip to RAK instead for that!

Can anyone recommend the best value day trips (or 1 overnight) out of MAN?

Have real trouble pricing anything up other than the direct to BSL

Ah crap, I forgot to register and now I have a whole lot of LHR-EDI flights I need to take in August.

Any chance it can be proactively applied?

What a great promotion, 1st month of a new year after renewing my Gold and I have an LHR-DME coming up in M (believe that's 1.5 x miles, mid economy?) ...so;

1558 x 1.5 = 2337 status miles + 4674 bonus = 7011
14,022 round trip status miles!! (+ extra Gold destinations miles)

Hope this is correct, great start to the new year, already banked around 5,000 and have US trip next month also so could be Gold after 2 months, think that's my record and I can focus on securing BA silver again...that's the downside of being too generous I guess!!
