Problems with avis website?

I get at far as the last page "make reservation" and then I get "Avis.com has not properly responded to your request". I've tried multiple times on 2 different browsers (Safari and Firefox) this morning. Has anyone sucessfully made a reservation this morning?

TIA

Jennifer

I'm a Mac user and made a reservation on Avis today (and previously) with no problems. (I was using Firefox v. 2.0.0.1) It was likely just a temporary problem...

No, having tried multiple combinations of computers and browsers I have come to the conclusion that the problem relates to the discount code I was using (which I have used for several years). It would be helpful if it would simply say the code was invalid but noooo.

Thanks anyway

Not that I am in the business of making exuses for avis (anymore), but if you were authorized to use that discount code, chances are you probably have the new code or have received instructions on whats the proper use of the code. But then again, who knows...

that code might also have specific restrictions, including location, coupons, and as I read from your post in another forum, car class.

As you saw it was car class. Actually, I have another (unpublished) code which I have also used in the past that was directed specifically to me: that wouldn't work either and nowhere in the accompanying documentation was there an indication that this code was not valid with a sub-compact vehicle. I don't think it's unreasonable that an invalid or expired code should produce a an intelligible message, rather that one that directed me to hit the back button and re-submit. How about "Code Invalid"? That would work for me.

Im sure that would work for you, but that would also make it extremely easy for people who peruse this forum to check out codes that work and dont work. Frankly I believe they havent upgraded for that reason. Some coupons only work if there is specific car classes, since the coupon code field was in development (they were working on disposable coupon serial numbers, so ALL coupons would be paperless and prevent duplication, except those that were authorized, anything is possible).
