- LAX
- Fullsize
- 300 M, asked for a Caddy, they said they did not have any more luxury but I could have anything on the lot. I ask for the Cadillac CTS (5700 miles) which they were happy to give me. I guess they thought I wanted the DTS.

Requested something smaller and more economical "like a Prius", and was given a Prius instead. Made sweeter by the 50% Off Weekends Deal.

Preferred line was un-staffed at 11p, with a fairly long 'general' line. After agent finished with a general customer, she put the general line on hold and came to the Preferred desk to help me and another customer who were waiting. Nice touch, except for the nasty looks from the general line. Oh well.

I really enjoy the service at the Ottawa Airport location. The ladies at the front desk constantly go out of their way to make sure I have a good rental.

The standard fullsize in and around Ottawa are Grand Prix's I cant stand them. I show up at the desk and request something different, they definitely make my day with a 300 Hemi. What an engine. (Gas is another story though lol)

I originally had a Cadillac CTS assigned but turned it down as I'm with a party of 4 and we have a lot of luggage (nice ride, but our bags wouldn't all fit in the trunk!)

There were very few cars on the lot when I picked up on Thursday night...almost everything in the Preferred section was a CTS, so presumably that's the only reason for the generous upgrade.

Received: BMW 7 series Diesel, GPS - great car, drove MUC-FRA-MUC without filling gas. They started offering me a Mercedes E class (no GPS). I asked for an Audi A4 with GPS. They had none, but offered the BMW 7, which is the best car I ever have driven. However, it took me 15 min. at the park-house to get this baby run... Note: Avis does NOT want you to drive to Italy with BMW 5 & 7, Mercedes E & S, all Porsche....I drove to the Brenner Pass to visit friends ..still in Austria (on the boarder to Italy)

What a joke, such a lousy car. It acts like a boat .. swimming .. Mrs. USAFAN could not sleep after 12+ flights. I guess they dumped the car in the Everglades.

Next week I am in SFO. Reserved Full size. See what I get.

In FLL do you have to go to the counter? In MIA Avis shuttle drove me to the car, in Naples, FL, you go to the counter, in RSW (Ft.Myers) your name is on the board.

Will be in SFO next week. Do I have to go to the counter or strait to the car/board? I am preferred. Thanks ... I know, I have to take the shuttle to "rental cars".

Both FLL and SFO have boards, just find your name and space number, and off you go. I have a habit of stopping at the Preferred counter before hand to see what I've been given before I haul my stuff out to the garage, only to find it's not what I want to be driving and have to go back to the counter anyway.

Yes, my girlfriend and I were happy with it. Fast enough, comfortable, all the amenities we need. I am sure you will be happy with it. My next rental, I am looking to get the STS. I find that the DTS is too big.

This is hands-down my favorite car on the Avis fleet, and the best upgrade!! Fast, smooth, stylish. I took it this weekend for a round trip up I-15 SAN-LAS. Trip report coming soon.

SAN is a great station for upgrades (unlike what I've experienced at BNA). Manager meet and greet, personal escorting the car out the shuttle-bus lane so you don't have to wait for the gate attendant, etc. Awesome service!

All went NOT well:
1. The "train" stopped twice in the middle between two stops. Lost at least 30 min.
2. Got a big Ford (like Mercury Grand Marquis). Refused. Had a pretty long discussion at the counter ... their docs did NOT show that I was eligible for 2-class upgrade. Finally I got a Buick Lucerne, which was OK.
