does anyone know of a code that WAIVES the one way fees. Normally, I hadn't had a one way fee fro IAD to RIC or CHO, but now they are charging some percentage of the rental amount.

I saw some posters emphasize having a backup reservation at another company when using these codes. I'll be going with Avis on what seems to be a reliable code (D005297) are there certain companies that are better to have as a backup? i.e. Which companies would penalize me the least for cancelling on the same day or no-showing?

Thanks!

I have used Avis, Hertz, and National as back-ups from time-to-time and have never been penalized by any of them. Not sure about the others (ie: Alamo, Budget, Thrifty, etc)

Who does Z652297 belong to?

Man all these rates are so much cheaper than my corporate AWD. Is there any risk in using one of these codes and a company issued Avis Wizard #?

ignore my second question, I just searched the thred.

No Code - Try it

I tested using 3 variables: my AWD and corp discount, a number of codes from this thread and removing my AWD discount - the cost was substantially less with no AWD - go figure.

Learned a hard lesson

I routinely rent from my local Avis, using the state of Florida AWD. I have never had an issue.

The agent and I were curious as to why I have not been upgraded to Avis first as I have had TONS of rentals.

It turns out, the FLorida AWD does NOT allow you to earn miles, status or coupons!

My agent switched me to the Costco AWD. Does anyone have a REALLY good back up AWD?

Does "A972200..........Farmer's Insurance" require an ID? Do you need to be an employee of Farmer's Insurance? a customer?

I've been using G417900 for many years. Consistently good rates, never a hassle, and free LDW cap. You may be able to beat the rate by a few dollars here and there. I used to try many different codes on every reservation, until I realized it makes more sense to find a hassle-free code, that works well, with a great discount, and just stick with it.

Code comes from here:

Hawaii in Dec

Even with a late booking, code # K860600 (Starwood Prefered Guest, which I am one) produced the best luxury rate for me for a 3-day rental an HNL. So instead of a minivan, we will be toolin around in a vert. Gonna make the anniversay trip much neater.

BTW, same cost as an economy at Hertz.

Bob,

Great code! Tell me, can you earn miles, status and points?
