But if you have an Amex card, I strongly recommend also buying their Premium Rental insurance for $19.95 per rental, as a backup. In your case that would come to about $.95 cents per day.
I usually rent hertz, they usually have the best prices for me, but for an upcoming trip Avis was a third the cost of hertz (really!) and I came over looking for discount codes. I didn't know Amex offered the Premium Rental insurance, what a great find to see that. Having something reasonably priced for primary insurance is great. Thanks. |
stay away

I believe you are mistaken on your interpretation. If you read clearly your quote above, it say's coverage is in "excess" to your other sources of insurance". That's the standard credit card insurance. They will only assume any of the leftover liability after you've filed with your own insurance company(s).I'm not interested in filing with my own insurance company first, and than the credit card. The plan I enrolled in with Amex provides PRIMARY coverage. My own auto insurer is never even notified. I'm paying the $19.95 for PRIMARY coverage.

Bob, thanks for this, I just enrolled. Having lived in NY for sometime, I could never have AMEX cover car rentals but moving to MD and your post really helped^

If that doesn't work or they move it, it's under www.americanexpress.com Travel Car Rental Insurance In the pop up click learn more in the shaded box on the right, click on link for the premium insurance. |
Thanks much!

Anybody has experiences using NetJet code? |
New here, so I apologize if this is old info. Re: the Amex primary rental car coverage....Sign up for it with Amex, reserve the car from Avis with the Amex card. Rent the car. Upon return, if you haven't had an accident, use a different Credit Card to pay. You save the $19.95 fee! Yes??? Comments?
