I'd be interested in hearing any counterpoints to this theory. :D

I'd be interested to hear if your LDW would be voided when you return the car with damage and the Avis office files a damage claim. Surely Kellwood (the company associated with your favorite AWD) would report to Avis that the renter of the damaged car is not a current employee. Maybe you'd get lucky, but I think with the amount of $$$ involved, Avis would check to see if you indeed should be covered under its special rental contract with Kellwood.

Unfortunately both times I returned a damaged rental car (windshield crack and damage from an attempted theft), I was not using a AWD with LDW.

I have also tried the code D833357. Does anyone know what the story is on this code?

Have you tried K817625? :p Valid through 2006, it gives you 250 miles on your Delta FF DAILY, and can be used by anyone since anyone can join Delta Skymiles online for free.

Bill,
I've used the LDW feature 2x that I can remember in the past . Each was a relatively small issue, but no problem each time. A co-worker of mine did some really substantial damage, and after filling out the Avis report, he never had another contact with Avis re: the accident. I have no idea what the Avis policy is on followup to LDW claims....but I suspect they are not too rigid. I'd like to hear if anyone has ever been denied LDW as per the situation you described above.

NMENAKER, do you know which of these two codes, K860600 or D833357 you used?

D833357 seems to be related to the The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA). Can firends or relatives of travel agents use this code? Can a travel agent "give" someone this code? I wonder...

Hi,

Did anyone find out yet what code is this for? And if it is good for use in Australia without raising any red flags? It seems to be giving some really great rates..

I would have gone with Hertz, but they are all sold out during the holiday period.

:)

Has anyone ever used a code that was questioned or denied?
I can't recall seeing a post about this.
