My expiration date was renewed when I transferred points (from my bank) into miles a few months ago.
Another option might be to purchase an Uber gift card (for Colombia for instance you'd get 5 miles when purchasing 10,000 COP, which is under $3).

You could fly round trip first class from North America to Southeast Asia. For $1800 that is a steal.

yah, but i also have so many points elsewhere too that I'm not using (this was by no means my largest point balance...). That's the reason why i accidentally let them expire because i had. t logged in and thought about it in a while.

You do not have to check your accounts regularly: Just put a reminder on your calendar one (or maybe two) months before any miles or points are due to expire, so that you have adequate time to save them if you wish to. That won't fix your current problem, but will prevent future ones.

Was the extension of the expiration date instant? Or how long did you have to wait for that to update? And when did you do this?

Booking hotel using Lifemiles miles and then canceling the hotel later on (hence ensure fully refundable booking) and get your miles back. Tried this, but still waiting to see if it worked.

2 days out. At first I thought the booking of hotel triggers it, but then realized it is the redeposit of the miles, similar to a cancelled and redeposited flight. Let's see, it's LM after all.
