TACA question

I have a quick question. I am flying coach from EZE to LIM. I have never used TACA before. Do they do status match if I am *gold at CO. Will I be able to get any benefit as a *Gold member. The only benefit i see is that I am going to be able to get 100% RDM on my Mileage Plus account (UA). Thanks!!!

They did for me from AA Platinum a few years ago, and this year when I was 919 miles short of Gold again (mainly due to flying one way on AA and using a couple TACA reward tickets) they sent me the Plata renewal then a week later they sent me Gold and an e-mail saying for 919 miles I should not go without Gold.

That said 100% of my TACA is full-fare C travel and they know that from my record. Maybe that was an influence.

Gold gives you the lounge (which doesn't matter with full-fare C) and more miles per flight on top of COS bonus they also give.

the OP did not ask about a "status match" to get Gold or Plat with TACA; the OP just wants his status as *Alliance Gold recognized by TACA and the answer is no; it is very unlikely the TACA will let him have priority boarding, check-in or use of lounge.

AA and TACA belong to the OneWorld Alliance;

LAN would be pissed if this were ever to happen. Taca doesn't belong to any alliance as of now, and it seems that they're closer to *A than OW.

I was actually wondering whether any central-American airline is heading towards *A... COPA seemed to be the most obvious candidate, when they withdrew from Skyteam association after CO moved to *A, moreover they are using the CO Onepass as their FFP - hence CMs FFs earn *A miles, whereas *A FFs cannot enjoy the status benefits when eventually flying CM TACA would be another option, yielding Miles&More award miles, yet no news are heard about any future enlargements of *A after the two new airlines joined this year.

sorry, my mistake; It is indeed LAN and not TACA;
You are absolutely right; LAN would have a kanipshin if TACA gets close to them.

There were rumors that TACA (or whatever the name would be after TACA/Avianca merger) will be joining *A. No details, yet.

And I really don't understand why COPA was left un-allied after CO joined *A.

Especially when COPAs FFs enjoy all the *A status privileges thanks to CO Onepass.
