To follow up on my post upthread, no problem with 96 hour timeframe. As I didn’t have my connecting flight to my intl flight on the same itin, I made sure it was within 96 hours from that flight departure. I also didn’t have my passport number on the PCR results, and it wasn’t an issue.
Interestingly, there was no review of documents, aside from passport, upon arrival in Male. Perhaps it was because the lines were long, tho a friend arrived earlier and her health documents were checked. |

Which airline? Qatar was extremely thorough in checking for me, both last year in Chicago, and this year in Athens.

Before you boarded your flight at the original or transfer check in, did they check the online Health Declaration code? If so they can see that when they scan your passport on arrival.

At the connecting flight at CDG they checked to ensure we had the proper documents including the online QR code for the declaration. But it was a review…it wasn’t logged into any system by AF. A fiend flew QR and felt it was a more rigorous check. And some of the people on the QR flight on arrival were checked, some weren’t. Friend said it seemed random. When we arrived, there were other flights arriving at the same time, and it appeared that no one was having their docs checked

Did they check the QR code at MLE?

Has anyone had to quarantine at the end of their visit when they had to test for departure? I saw a document somewhere that there are designated COVID quarantine facilities on the island with the airport that you can get transported to instead of having to stay/pay at the resort. Just trying to see if this is how it has worked out for anyone. Don't feel like coughing up $2500 a night if I have to stay at the resort.

Just checked with the Authorities in Maldives. If you are staying in a resort then they would not be able to check you in or even take to the airport unless you have the negative PCR test. Even if in the unlikely event you managed to get to the airport, they have no permanent quarantine facility anymore. They have a room where you would be held and then sent back to the resort. You can look at alternative arrangements at a guest house in Hulumale, which is the adjoining island to the airport.

Sorry, very bad explanation on my part. It is on Hulhumale. But finding out how the resort would get you there. Wish I could find the document again. Thanks for the info.
If you are staying in HuluMale then it would be a guest house? Different process of PCR testing. Are you staying in a resort or HuluMale? |

Yes the Tourism Ministry is tough on resorts who take passengers to the airport without a negative PCR test. You have to fill in the online departure health form Imuga. It needs the copy of your vaccine record and the PCR test uploaded to it. You cannot upload the form if you do not have a negative PCR test. Bear in mind that if you are at the resort they organize or do the test for you and would know your results as well.

Staying at the Waldorf, just going to have to sell a kidney if I have to end up staying an extra 14 days there if I test positive. I had seen something about there being designated quarantine facilities on Hulhumale for a cheaper option of doing your quarantine at.
Yes you are right about the Waldorf. Maldives has not made this process of departure smoother. I think you will have to find a guesthouse around Male or Hulumale that would accommodate people who have tested positive. According the information I got, Waldorf would not even transport you to the airport if you test positive. Best bet would be to have your own anti gen test kit and test a day before your PCR test. FYI the infection rate is also rising in The Maldives though the hospitalization remains low. |

I understand the cases are going up. Just like everywhere, wish the Maldives would change the quarantine rules to fall inline with the CDC. |
