It must be a VN plane. For example, we flew into SGN on an AF plane, with VN ticket and VN flight flight number, but were turned away because it was not a VN metal.
I don't know how they treat someone with an AF flight number on VN metal...
P.S. : You will have priority for both immigration and exit.

Been through SGN a few times in the last few months both domestic and international. As mentioned above, SGN is incredibly busy at times, so always allow more time than needed to get in or do a transfer to another terminal. Unlike HAN where status/ticket class can jump some lines, my experience at SGN as a VN plat flyer is that it's variable; I've been waved into priority lines and also told to get out of them despite having both my ticket and status card visible (it's the only country/airline where the physical card has been useful to me).
Arrival at SGN international is a mess full stop. HAN was pretty straightforward but SGN was terrible to get landside in. The only way I found was to do as the locals do and go to the middle immigration lines by queue jumping. I think it saved me at least 30 mins last time.
Personally, if I was using Vietnam as a hub for further travel and doing a layover, I'd go to HAN rather than SGN, the overall vibe of SGN airport was that of very slightly managed chaos (sort of like the city itself).

Ill add a recent data point about departing SGN with an international VN business class ticket on VN metal. Was able to get into an unmarked fast track immigration lane between the wheelchair and APEC lanes. The whole section was roped off and an airport worker would let people in after showing credentials (in my case my business class boarding pass).
I asked the VN check-in agent about immigration fast track and they told me lane 4. Since the lanes arent numbered, I would have had no idea where to go if not for this thread. When I was in line I counted and sure enough, it was the 4th window from the right.
The check-in agent did not offer any of this info, I had to ask.
All in all, it took me about 5-10 mins to clear immigration and security on a Saturday afternoon.

Don't entirely follow... you were told you could not proceed at Lane 4 and to get in line for the main immigration queue? Priority security is directly behind Lane 4 and the others on the right side of the hall, so you then would have had to walk back there after immigration in order to access it.

For the sake of clarity, I feel the need to point out that "fast track" is a paid service offered by various agencies giving the buyer access to the "priority" or "expedited" (in the airline's parlance) immigration/security lanes. Therefore, there's actually no such thing as a "fast track lane" and I doubt these words mean anything to the average airport employee, especially the non English-speaking security staff patrolling the entrances. Don't mean to be pedantic, but mentioning this in the hopes it makes a difference for passengers who qualify for (free) priority immigration at SGN. If even saying "Business" -- and showing the boarding pass that it's on Vietnam Airlines metal -- doesn't register with a particular thick employee, I wouldn't hesitate to get VNA ground staff involved.

Very good thread this, will be arriving at SGN with VN and in business in a few days time so will try to find a priority immigration line (wherever that may be). Btw is there a separate area for prebooked (via Booking.com etc.) airport-hotel transfers where they wait?

My tuppence worth for SGN. On arrival, yes head to the lanes on the left with your boarding pass ready to show them that you've arrived in Business class. Many officials I find struggle with the concept of tier status. So, that's often the biggest variable. Once you are in a line, stay in it and try to avoid chopping and changing as that invariably will get you shouted at by the Boys in Green. Similarly on departure, head to the far right of the immigration desks where you see the official manning the roped off section and just say "Business class" also showing your boarding pass. After immigration keep to the far right for the "fast track" security. None of this is signposted. So, you do have to use some intuition.
Top tip, be ready to go with the flow and whatever you do, do not lose it with the officials. It's Vietnam and they can really make your day a nightmare if they feel in the mood. From my observations, I generally find that in any SGN airport misunderstanding about airline status and fast track, a respectful but helpful attitude in explaining goes so much further than a DYKWIA stomping of the feet.

Everything went very smoothly at SGN, there was a uniformed immigrant officer holding a Vietnam Airlines business class plaque and directing people.

Just to add another data point here, just arrived from BKK transferring to domestic flight in Business Class first time at SGN. As described by others it seemed very busy and chaotic but organised chaos is fair description but it worked very well from my point of view.
I had been a little apprehensive having read so many horror stories but just before immigration there was a station setup for those transferring one member of staff from VN put stickers on us and another walked us to a nearby barrier where it was opened and we were directed through the empty wheel chair lane and was stamped in 30 secs max. Had to go and collect bags but they were out in 15 min or so, straight through customs and there was a desk setup with a member of VN collecting bags and marking names off a list.
Originally thought it might be tight but arrived to the domestic lounge within 35 min of touching down. I will say VN staff on the ground were great guiding us through which is obviously a big factor in it being so fast and smooth.

How did the transfer bus work?
What was the new domestic terminal like?

No still the old terminal as we're heading to Phu Quoc they announced after landing that not all flights had moved across yet to the new terminal so just a short walk no bus.
