Yet you're backing them to do better than Brazil?

I'm making space in the wine rack for that case of Malbec. ^

Doode..... Brazil isnt going to win, regardless of how well or how badly Argentina does. I dont have Argentina as a rational favorite.... but considering all the individual talent that the squad has they cant be ruled out entirely....

We will find out soon enough.....

To be clear what was the bet? For Argentina to go further than Brazil or for either team to win the damn thing?
I don't want the heavy mob turning up on my doorstep looking for your bottle of PJ if I have misunderstood.

Hi Hiddy-- The bet was purely on Brazil... I said they had zero chance of winning, and you laughed... hence, the wager is for Brazil to win the WCup.

To exemplify the specifics.... if Brazil is Champion you win, if Brazil is not Champion I win. The odds as agreed are 2 bottles of PJ against 18 bottles of Malbec in the $50-$60 (Pesos per bottle range).

If this is not what you understood I suggest we call it off.

Having reviewed previous posts I shall refer you to post #241 the terms of which you agreed to the wager. Your interpretation is typical Argentinian if you don't mind me saying so.....you are trying to push the odds ridiculously in your favour. :td:

So, the bet (as detailed on my earlier post)....is for whichever team goes furthest in the competition. You Argentina...Me Brazil.

Hiddy... did you perhaps not use your reading glasses or is it you (and not me) that has English as a second language?

Gaucho100K.....for Gods sake man what's happened to your sense of humour? Okay, in my rush I forgot a smilie but please don't get all worked up over a jokey comment....heavens above us Scots have had to put up with a hell of a lot worse over the centuries......and we still laugh it off.

Okay the bet stands on your interpretation. If Brazil win I win if they don't then you win. It's only a bottle of PJ that I've had kicking about the house for years collecting dust I' would give you it as a gift anyway just to get rid of it so I'm not really bothered who wins the flippin' World Cup...as long as it's not England. They're still going on about their last victory over 40 years ago and life will become intolerable if they should win it again.

No problem Alex.....Having re-read it I can see it could easily have been taken the wrong way.
Anyway, it's time for a wee RSJ to warm me up.....quite chilly outside this evening. ;)

With this latest enhancement Argentina's chances of winning are clearly enhanced.

So..... not a great game but Argentina wins 1-0 against Nigeria. Too bad Higuain and Messi didnt have a good scoring day.... they certainly had a good 2-3 chances each to score, especially in the 1st half.

Its going to be interesting to see what the guys can do against South Korea.....

HIDDY Jun 12, 2010 10:02 am

Always good to get the first game over with a win...even if they were far from impressive.

Lets hope they improve as the tournament progresses....they'll have to.

First time I've had the honor of seeing Messi play (we get mostly EPL games) and I have to say it was a lot of fun. He has incredible ball control in tight spaces and a burst of speed with the ball that very few possess. It's too bad he didn't "pot one in the back of the ole onion bag" (to quote Tommy Smythe) but I'm sure that's coming.

I wasn't too impressed with how Argentina moved the ball, except for the quick give and go plays among the forwards. Hopefully they straighten it out before the South Korea match.

Gaucho100K Jun 12, 2010 12:02 pm

Considering how poor Messi has been playing for the National Team, his performance today was a very positive change... yes, he missed his scoring chances but he did generate various chances for his team-mates and also a few for himself... I think that Messi deserves some credit.

Overall, the team still shows that it is not solid in defense... and Nigeria is no measure for the real games... I dont think that the Koreans will be much better, and then Greece is the weakest team in the group....

This WC doesnt get started until it enters the first KO round of the final 16 teams....
