We stayed at both Latino and Bobo on our last visit a few months ago. Both are excellent hotels. Latino is definitely modern. Bobo more funky. As for Bobo being a walk to anything, it depends on where you're looking to walk to. It's smack dab in the middle of funky Palermo with tons of shops, bars and restaurants, not far from the zoo and the park. Both are great hotels.

We have found a couple of neat hotels in the Puerto Maderno area.My traveling companion is unsure of the area(he thinks it will be like the reclaimed docklands in London-chic and kinda happening,but not convenient to anything)any feedback on this new neighborhood as far as proxemity to trolly/subway lines and what is there to do in the area in general-thanks.

I mostly stay in Puerto Madero and it is a good neighborhood for staying as a base to get around the city. Cabs are so cheap that to think of using the subways or buses is truly unnecessary (although the Buenos Aires subte should be checked out). There are good restaurants there too.

Puerto Madero was kind of trendy a few years back, but now it's just another part of Buenos Aires.

Puerto Madero is convenient .... far more so than "reclaimed" areas of London. Traffic is less of an issue and cabs are really dirt cheap since the Argentine peso was de-dollarized.

I have not read any mention of the immigration queues at EZE, and perhaps things have improved, but my arrival last December (and departure a month later) rank with the very worst immigration "services" I have had. There were two (!) immigration officers serving two 747 arrivals, and it took over two hours for me to enter - and I was in WT+, so pretty far up in the queue.

Worse, departures are also subject to a restrictive and poorly-staffed Immigration control. I arrived three hours early for my flight and was OK, but the flight was delayed by almost one hour due to so many fellow travellers caught in the "exit queue".

One other note for potential LHR - EZE travellers is that the flight actually stops in Sao Paulo both ways. Apparently the flight crew changes at this time, which seems odd (it's not very far from EZE) but no doubt is related to maximum flight times. BA is very coy about this stop and although it adds at least an hour to your flight time, it will not be mentioned when booking.

Finally, Buenos Aires is a wonderful city (and Argentina a wonderful country). Stay up late and enjoy it!

Emigration lines are worse than "immigration" ones -- at least generally; however, for most of my flights at most times of the year, I go through immigration quite quickly; it's "emigration" where the lines are more often awful because a bunch of flights leave at close to the same time.

So, how early should we get to the airport for a flight leaving at 9:30pm? Is there a separate line for First/Business?

I throw in another vote for BoBo. While I havent stayed there, I have a lot of feedback from guests staying there and all has been very positive. I dont think you can go wrong with staying at the BoBo.

For check-in, yes. For immigration or departure tax, no. There are two locations (maybe three) for paying the departure tax. One will generally have no line or a far lesser line than the other.

7.15 to 7.30 and you will certainly be ok if checking in at first or business, going to the departure tax booth location with the shorter line and not having a VAT rebate.

I've arrived at c. 8.15 and made it on c. 9.30 p.m. flights; however, on a few occassions the emigration line was too long and I felt I cut it too close at the time.

The Conde Nast crowd liked it too.

I read that right after I got back from EZE in April. Imagine my surprise to see that AFTER we stayed at Bobo AND Estancia Santa Rita! I was an opinion leader baby! Ahead of the freakin' curve! Anyone wanna share stock tips????

I have been to BA before on business and loved it SO much that I am returning with my Boyfriend and some friends on vacation. We will be there the first week of September. I would appreciate any suggestions on cool/trendy restaurants, bars, and clubs. As for age group my friends and I are between 25-28 so something along those lines. I am SUPER excited about returning to BA and can't wait! Also, if someone can recommend a good Tango show too. THANKS!

I am in BA every two months and one of my favorite places to eat is El Establo CAfe on Paraguay 489, Just behind the Plaza Hotel, with good food, low prices and great staff (how does dinner for two with wine and tip for $35.00 US sound?) how can you go wrong? Tel 4311-1639.

Forget Canbana Las Lilas in the port area, overpriced and can be very loud at times, however if you are in the Puerto Madero area try Bice Ristorante, Av. Alicia de Justo 192, Tel 4315-6216, about $70 to $80 US for two including wine and tip.

A good bistro to try is La Despensa, Av. Quintana 210, Tel 4812-0080.
