What rate of exchange did they give you?

Well done. First time I have heard anyone being able to change Pesos to Dollars at the official rate in a Currency Exchange place for many years.

The last time it happened they had to produce the receipt when they purchased the pesos to prove they had bought them at the official rate.

Have you actually tried to book a ride? At that time, it should allow you a cash pay option. If it doesn't, perhaps uninstall and re-install after entering La Argentina.

I had installed Cabify in California. Upon landing the other night, I clicked on my home screen (round circle in the upper left) to set the payment to cash as noted up thread (cash option never appeared when I was in the United States) however as soon as I landed in Argentina it appeared.

Once Cash was selected, It requested a DNI, I tried my passport it wasn’t accepted.

System gave me a message to add another form of payment as proof of identity. I registered a credit card, that successfully worked and I’ve been able to use my setting as payment of cash for all rides to date. Thanks for the tip Eastbay1K !

Fares are great!

2800 ARS from EZE to Palermo Viejo.

About 1000 ARS to and from Belgrano R from Palermo Viejo when I went to my friends home the other night for dinner.

After arriving at EZE, how do I get a hold on some money at the blue rate to pay Cabify?

Am I likely to have any trouble getting into the Star Alliance lounge with my Priority Pass card at around 8pm? I don't see any discussions about EZE PP lounge in the airport lounge area, and just an old thread here from 2016 about there not being a lounge. I'm going to have a few hours to kill before my US flight in a few weeks and was planning to spend it in the lounge. PP says it's available 24 hours.

I haven't peeked up there prior to the evening bank of flights, but traditionally there has been quite a line in the evening for the PP crowd. It is available, subject to availability ;)

Hi all, I'm loving all the info I've learned from this long (and very informative!) thread, but I can't find a definite current answer to this question: Are travelers to Argentina still required to provide proof of Covid insurance?

I'm going there in a couple of weeks (Feb/23) and so far everything I look at says "it is suggested", but I can't find anything saying it is mandatory. Would appreciate it if someone could give me a definite answer.

First time at EZE..some quick questions.

 1. Can I buy a SIM card at the airport when I land..any help here is appreciated.
 2. Do the Airport Taxis accept American Express.
 3. At 06:30 how bad would the immigration lines be at that time? What am I in for?
Everyones help is appreciated.

The store to the left just after you pass the customs hall and the car service booths will probably have them... But not sure.

The airport taxi booths accept AX, but you will get the worst exchange rate possible.

630am is probably before the worst of it. On the other hand, the longer the immigration line, the shorter the bag claim wait. Expect 45 minutes. It could be 5.

Amex is still changing at the official rate

Visa and Mastercard will change at something close to the MEP rate.

6.30am? It depends on the day as Eastbay1K says it could be five or ten minutes but if you are a little late you coincide with the European flights and one or two wide bodies from the US.

We were not asked for anything mid January.

There is a Personal store on the first floor which sells SIM cards. After clearing customs and walking through all the taxi booths, walk right towards the check-in area and take the escalator up one floor, the store is right there before security.

So, the answer is, it was a disaster. We got to the terminal around 7:30pm and they were not allowing PP people in. I had to send them a message via Whatsapp to get on the waiting list, and was finally allowed access at around 9:30pm (I do not have the exact times since they use disappearing messages in WA). Fortunately (?), my flight was not until 11pm, so I was able to spend around 45 minutes there going down to board. There were around 50 people on the waiting list when we got there, and still 15 ahead of me when I went back to check at 9pm (which was when they said they would be able to let me in).

For anyone who wants to save some time, here's their number. You need to text them your name, flight and # of guests. You might want to text them when you arrive at the airport, since it takes a while to get through immigration.

Do all the airport taxis accept Visa and Mastercards?
