thanks
we had been hoping to stay somewhere like HOME, or Five Simple rooms, or bobo, or somewhere in Palermo, but during the weekend we are there, Easter, there seem to be very limited lodging options.
Any further rec's in Palermo?

SoHo All Suites Hotel

PS just read some rather nasty recent postings on the Park Plaza at TripAdvisor.com so maybe has taken a down turn.

Just had some clients stay at this new place (Legado Mitico), they had quite positive reviews.

They are easy to aquire, three major cell phone companies
Movistar http://www.movistar.net.ar/
CTI http://www.cti.com.ar/home/index.html
Personal http://www.personal.com.ar/index.htm
If you are bringing an unlocked US cell phone with you just make sure it will work here.

In Novemeber TravelKhatt and I each got SIMs from the CTI office on Florida (a couple of blocks North of Cordoba IIRC).
The service worked immediately (some have reported some delays, especially when purchasing from 3rd party stores for some of the networks).
The cost was ARS10 for each SIM. We each put an additional ARS20 (I seem to recall that there was a bonus if you added 20) on each card which seemed to meet our needs for our 5 days.
It is a bit complicated - first you check in and tell them what you want and they give you a number and point you to another line.
You then explain that you want to get SIM cards and purchase them (after letting them get a copy of your passport). Next you go up two stories with your card and number, and fund the card.
You can see your balance on the CTI website.
As with doing business with many non-tourist shops in BsAs, you might have difficulty finding someone working there who speaks English. So if your Spanish is not the best, you might want to get a few handy phrases translated in advance.
Now if I can just find some way to recharge my cards before my next visit.

Thanks, the CTI looks pretty good and the pricing seems very good.
I'll try in BA once on the ground.
Now, if I could JUST find a way to get from Cancha Carrera to El Calafate!!!

I bought a quad band phone on eBay to take to EZE on my last trip. It was supposed to be unlocked, but wasn't. I think the cheapest rate I've gotten so far to unlock it was about 50 pesos. Most people recommended the Personal service over the others.
I guess I'll get it unlocked next week when I'm in EZE.

Air Canada has announced that their current YYZ-SCL-EZE service will be split for next winter's season, with EZE and SCL each getting a 763 5 days a week, and GRU going to a daily 777.

I know - great stuff. What with Qantas launching direct flights to Sydney in November and BA moving to daily flights over the summer months, we're getting better connected down here all the time. Let's hope there'll be some good fares to be had too (I know, I know - not likely )
