First time in Argentina
We have planned to fly to EZE this Christmas arriving Dec. 22 and leaving Dec. 31. A quick fleeting visit of discovery and we need input on itinerary. We have booked hotels for Buenos Aires(upon arrival) and Iguazu (over Christmas). We would like to see Salta, Cachi, Purmamarca, Cafayate... There is also Bariloche. This short visit will no doubt be followed by another as there is so much to see. Wonder if we should just do the Salta/Cachi area rather than Bariloche as we don't have enough days.
Thanks for your input.

Yes you do seem to be packing an awful lot in with that itinerary.
As you seem to be planning future visits I don't see the need to go out of your way to visit Bariloche so I would leave that for another visit and stick to seeing BA, Iguazu and the Salta area in a more relaxed manner.
The Bariloche area is beautiful and deserves a week on its own especially if you like doing a bit of hiking.....it's very relaxing countryside to be in. However if you're prepared to pay the price for air tickets there and back it's up to you.

Salta/Jujuy and the northwest really is a trip all by itself. I feel like you'd be selling yourselves short if you try and do it all in that limited amount of time. It can be done, but there is a lot of auto travel involved in going to all the places you noted, which takes a lot of time out of your already limited itinerary.
That being said, Salta is beautiful that time of year...

I would not go to Salta in the summer just as I don't like going home to Vegas in August anymore.
Buenos Aires is beautiful. I would just spend that time in Iguazu and Buenos Aires. You can do Iguazu is 3 days (fly there day one, see park day 2, fly back day 3).

Definitely agree. Also you only really need 1 full day in Iguazu if you're not going to the Brazilian side also. When I went I took the first flight there from Buenos Aires, walked around everywhere and took a boat ride, and flew back the next day.

I needed 2 half days and 1 full day.
Flew in, went to hostel to drop off bags, went to Brazil side. Next day went to Argentine side; did the boats, crashed the pool at the Sheraton, went out for some drinks. Next day went to the Graganta del Diablo, crashed the Sheraton pool again, changed in their bathroom and had a taxi pick me up and take me to the airport.
Budget costs but got to live the good life anyway.

I'd rather visit Bariloche in Summer and Salta and the north in Winter: I don't like scorching hot weather. Some brave the heat by choice, that's not me for sure!
