Transit in EZE with lots of cachaça?

I'm usually taking a few bottles of cachaca home when Coming from Brazil. This time I'm combining my brazil and argentina trips and need to take the cachaca to EZE now. Is there a good way to declare that alcohol as in transit?

Is this an int'l/int'l connection? If so, nothing to declare. If you are "entering" Argentina (i.e., immigration/customs) and then leaving later, then you have to declare it. It isn't in transit if you leave the airport with it. Declare it on the form. They rarely collect the forms but then you'll have declared it. If they x-ray your bag, then it will be good you have it on the form.

I think its safe to assume that the OP will be coming from the North to Brazil, and then come down to EZE. This is therefore a INT to INT connection... even though its technically inside MercoSur.

Argentine customs does not give a hoot about alcohol..... if you were bringing in super expensive Whisky or Cognac, they may want another look, but I think that a few bottles of high-octane lighter fluid made in Brazil will not get anybody´s attention.....

Haha, hope you're right Gaucho. I will actually stay in Argentina for a while, sorry for the misleading transit wording.

Wirelessly posted (Nokia N97 / Palm TX: Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.4; Series60/5.0 NokiaN97-3/22.2.110; Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1) AppleWebKit/525 (KHTML, like Gecko) BrowserNG/7.1.4)

Joking aside.... it will take 5 cases of booze to get the attention of the customs guys.... its the locals they want to hassle. You will be fine.

Just put it on the form they probably won't collect. This way when they X-ray your bag (high odds of this) you haven't not declared anything. It seems like mostly they are looking for things with plugs. Seriously, if delivery wasn't an issue, I'd have bought all my appliances and electronics in Chile. This is what they are looking for.

Too late, I bought all of my overpriced and substandard appliances in La Argentina. (Frustrating to see the same appliances (yet with a much more sensible plug ) available for so much less. But then, somehow I think a heladera would have exceeded my baggage allowance!

Hmmm, oh well, I will have to settle with sending you my kronies from the UIF & Banco Central Inspection division... they need to look over some real estate purchase to make sure all the 'tarasca' came into the country 'en blanco'.....

Which was no easy feat (as this runs way far away from cachaca ) - I had to convince a customs officer that I really needed to declare it. They kept trying to wave me through. The final purchase ended up being extra-super-en-blanco wired through the Banco de los K.
