Is there incresed security at EZE on US bound flights
I am flying out of EZE tomorrow (12/27). On the united flight to IAD. Does anyone know if the new security measure for US bound flights is causing significant delays getting through security at EZE?

The airport really isn't designed for having the US flights in a certain penned area.
846 left early last night, and I'd imagine some sort of extra procedures were already in effect (but I wasn't there). I believe there was another FTer on that flight.
Enjoy your trip. I'm really glad I'm not flying a US carrier home on my next trip - I will have some inconvenience, with apologies. I fear your flight will have crew screaming at you all like third graders.

I'm flying to the US next Monday (Jan 11), and for what I see http://www.aa2000.com.ar/ most carriers are delayed 30 to 45 minutes (US carriers and even Air Canada or others as well). I suspect there are additional gate searches for US (and Canadian or other international) flights these days and considering most of these flights are overbooked and indeed full, well, expect the zoo experience.

An update on EZE.
I flew out on 12/27 on United. The airport was the usual chaos, long lines at check-in and at passport control.
The additional security was not as bad as I anticipated, I was traveling in C so I was one of the first to board. The flight left maybe 20 mins late and arrived on time in IAD.
I would guess that UA's flight being a 767 helps since it carries far fewer passengers than say AA's 777.

I flew on Sunday, 1/10, it was almost the same as it has been for the past 24 months when they started hand searching luggage at the gate. Sunday they were also giving everyone a brief, and ineffective, pat down.

I wonder how long until EZE gets one of those super-high tech sniffing machines that most US airports have.....

I flew on Monday 11, I was there at 7pm for a 10:30 flight. Long lines everywhere, American Airlines very slow, and they called for boarding later than announced. The hand search lugagge at the gate is a joke, they opened my carryon which contained a backpack full of my electronics (cameras, lenses), but didn't open the backpack. And they confiscated the bottle of water that I had just bought by the gate in the sterile area, but it was because it was on top and visible in my laptop bag, they almost don't touch your belongings so I guess if I had put the little bottle somewhere else hidden below, they wouldn't have found it. I complained a little about it, and he said "sorry, it's TSAs policies" and grabbed the bottle. After the water confiscation I was given a light and brief pat down. AA plane departed at 11.00pm that day but arrived (DFW) 15 minutes earlier. IFE and everything was as always, no changes or new rules.

The ones that shoot puffs of air? Probably as soon as they can acquire one. I heard TSA has apparently removed them from use because they're unreliable. Need a corral for U.S.-bound flights unless they ran everyone through it.

The gate screening is definitely a joke - they literally unzipped my rucksack, peered into it and zipped it back up again. This was followed by a very cursory pat down and then it was straight onto the plane.

I had a similar experience on Wednesday 13/1 with American. The airport was busy but it still only took 35 mins from getting out the taxi to sitting down in the lounge with my Jack Daniels
