Hertz's Poor Service to Incorrect Police Incident
I have been trying to communicate with Hertz concerning a police violation that occurred eight months ago and which Hertz has just now informed me of. They apparently have incorrect information that they communicated to the police and it is causing all sorts of problems with the traffic department in California.
Hertz has no effective customer service. It is bad. Real bad when there is an issue. I have been provided multiple phone numbers and emails including customerreations@hertz,com, [email protected]. 239 301 7000, 800 654 4173. All ended up in call centers who are effectively useless for anything more than a billing error.
Does anyone have information of an actual US corporate contact involved with customer service management to help resolve this?

Are you willing to share with us the nature of the issue?
Hertz' corporate headquarters is located in Estero, Florida, area code 239. I see that the Better Business Bureau website lists several phone numbers for Hertz, including a few with the "239" area code. Perhaps one of those numbers would yield better results.

Indeed it would be good to have more details for proper advice. It might very well be that working with the local authorities is easier than to deal with Hertz.

What happened - A letter from the traffic violations department in Southern California was sent to an old address and forwarded to me. In it was a charge of a traffic violation requiring a response by August. The referred incident took place in August of 2024 and received this past April. California stated that the information was collected from Hertz. Hertz related my name but with a drivers license, address, and state that I haven't used in years. I rented from Hertz that summer for one day but did not have any incidents.
Before I contact California PD, I wanted to contact Hertz to collect the information of the incident and ask why this info was related to PD months after the incident so I can properly follow up. I was not initially complaining; just wanted to know where the info came from. That is when the communications issues with Hertz began.
Thus far, I have learned that ALL violations and toll issues are siphoned out to a separate entity whose job is to process toll payments and manage simple transactions. I spoke with them and they indicated that they only have the info on the car that Hertz provides. ALL customer service - email and and phone - are handled by third parties. Emails I suspect might be filtered from some sort of auto AI response as it was obvious that the recipient of my initial email did not read any of the cases numbers (which I quoted in my emails). I consistently requested a Hertz rep to call / email me back. The third parties have thus far ignored the request. But, one email suggested that that the company that manages their violation will pay the bill of the violation. (As this is a PD traffic violation, I have difficulty believing that is possible). So, I did locate what I believe to be corporate managers and if I am correct, will post it later.
So, any advice would be appreciated but my next step is to contact their corporate.

Is it a parking ticket? Or a moving violation or red light camera ticket?
If you know that you were not the renter of the vehicle in question, I would notify the police department of the location that Hertz provided them with incorrect information. I would, for good measure, also file a complaint with the California AG. And I would notify Hertz in writing that I do not intend to pay for a traffic violation for a rental that wasn’t mine.

And then I would consider trying to find some consumer reporters who previously reported on Hertz arrest shenanigans and see if they are interested in a follow-up story.
If they have charged your credit card already for the fine, I would engage my bank and file for a chargeback.
And I would plan on not ever renting from Hertz/Thrifty/Dollar again as they will probably ban you. Not much of a loss, TBH.

nogravity , a few questions:
1. Do you have a Hertz frequent-renter ("Gold") account? If so, did you ever notify Hertz of your change of address when you moved?
2. Did the date on the traffic-violation notice match the date when you had the Hertz rental car?
