Website glitch?
I just made a booking using points and when completing the transaction the website redirected me to the front page instead of the usual receipt screen. The thing is I received the eTicket email and I also see the ticket under My Trips. However the points were never deducted and there is no matching transaction under My Transactions. I don't know if I should just consider myself lucky and roll with it or could this be a real issue and the issued ticket wouldn't properly scan? I don't know if I should be reaching out to Amtrak regarding this.

I see I'm not alone. I made a quick booking for RTE-NYP on Friday, for travel on Saturday. Same thing - got the tickets emailed, had the trip show up in the app, able to change seats, and it scanned properly - no problems on board. But as of Monday, still no points deduction from my account. Meanwhile, the return trip on Sunday (booked immediately after - did them separately as one-ways) deducted quickly, and immediately added the credit card rebate back.
I'm guessing they'll eventually discover the points were never deducted, but at least in my case, the ticket was valid and no problem on board.

I contacted Amtrak to tell them that they hadnt deducted points but should do so. They acted as though I had six eyes. They never deducted the points.

Enjoy the potentially very cheap trip. As WT outlined in the other post, I'm two weeks out now and they still haven't deducted points. I guess it's just Amtrak making our points go that much further...

Update to my earlier data point - eventually they do audit the whole system. Two months later, I see a "Goodwill Adjustment" deducted from my account for what looks like the right amount of points, less the 10% rebate. So somoene caught the glitch and they're going back and fixing it. So no free tickets after all.
