Merchant Description
While a PayPal charge is pending, "PayPal" may not appear in the merchant description but will once the charge posts (e.g., a pending charge listed as "BESTBUY.COM" will become "PAYPAL BESTBUY.COM"). The reimbursement appears as "AMEX PAYPAL CREDIT", typically around 3 days later.

Google Pay
PayPal can be added to Google Pay via payments.google.com > Payment Methods > Add a payment method (note that not all Google Pay is created equal; e.g. this doesn't seem to work for Fi payments)

Best Buy: up to two $50 statement credits for spending $50 or more at bestbuy.com (must ship to home, pick up curbside or in-store don't count, gift cards don't count). I ordered a new stovetop this morning, and already got an email from Amex saying I got $100 coming.

Home Depot: same as above with the same restrictions.

Did you have to make two Best buy orders to get $100 credit? Thanks.

Bit of a start up cost to this one- you have to live 50 years and then invest $8, but the discounted AARP gift cards they sell at noon every Monday can be paid via PayPal.

Also the merchant never get any of your credit card or billing info only shipping. Its def more secure when buying from sketchier websites. I've contacted amex in the past regarding purchase protection on stuff purchased via paypal and its the same. It adds an extra layer of security as the merchant will never have your credit card number and security code.

The benefit is that with one-off merchants is that you don't need to create an account, trust their site security for processing your payment and address info. Paypal merely forwards it. There's also a benefit for people who don't have credit cards, because there's a little more security than plugging your debit card info into some random website. Plus, I'm sure for some people there's inertia; if I was an ebay merchant I'd probably have a decent PP balance to make payments out of.

Seeing the posts about using it for Netflix & Hulu help me, so my GCs that I bought at 10% off will wait until June to be applied. And some soap store my wife likes accepts Paypal which might end up being another few months of 'free' stuff for her.

I updated my Apple ID to charge to PayPal and the credits have been coming through nicely. Easy peasy. Great way to save on purchases that I would have made anyway, and it saves me from having to go out and purchase unnecessary things.

For my January credit:
January 1 - Made a $26.63 TV show purchase on my Apple TV (charged to AMEX Plat via PayPal)
January 4 - Credit posted to my AMEX account.

It's simultaneously easier to use and more difficult to use than expected - more merchants take it than I thought, but at the same time, Paypal in my experience so far also feels glitchy and prone to random errors without explanation (See: Target, Walmart, Spotify, and others).
Nearly every single streaming and cellular service accepts PayPal

I reloaded my uber account cash with paypal and amex and it codes as "PAYPAL B UBER GIFT" so may get excluded from the offer since gift cards etc are excluded.

If it is possible to add funds to an Apple ID balance via PayPal, that makes things interesting for some.

Has anyone tried to charge Netflix subscription with PayPal (payable with Amex plat)? I tried that and now it’s posted as an Netflix.com charge (not PayPal* netflix charge) on my Amex online statement. Should I call Amex to explain to get the credits?
