with hotel offers, im assuming its fine to book direct with hotel, rather than through central reservations? considering the way they run the credit card charge is the same?
for example some corporate/contract rates have to be booked direct right?

Gucci??
This is something different - $200 back on $1000 at gucci, online or in store. Only major exception appears to be no Duty Free.

Does anyone know if the Hilton offers must be a single purchase? I had a Hilton stay of $225 so I missed the spend $250 get $50 back offer but I have another one day stay next month before the deal expires.

Mine posted in 2 days for Verizon FIOS. However, I paid $301, expecting 1000x3 points, but only 1000 posted. I wonder if I needed to do 3 separate transactions? Same issue with my cell phone offer, I paid $301 and got only 1000 MR points.

Have to do separate transactions, which is pretty clear in the offer terms. I've been paying my Comcast bill in $102 increments. "Get 1,000 additional Membership Rewards® points each time you use your enrolled Card to make a single payment of $100+"

If you all you care about is the Amex Offer, then any way of booking that ends up charged by the hotel would work. But if you also want to earn points, bonuses, elite status credit, etc, at that hotel program at the same time, you have to book in a way that qualifies for that.
And thus for each hotel program, it can vary what kind of booking methods they allow for counting towards hotel points, hotel promos, etc.
I've use the hotel program website for Hilton, SPG, and La Quinta Amex offers, and in each of those cases the Amex offer worked fine. But then I always book cancellable rates, which are indeed charged by the hotel. It's advance purchase rates which have a danger of being charges by the hotel program itself, but cancellable rates (that involve no deposit), I don't see why those would be a problem booking the through the hotel program central reservations.
But which corporate/contract rates have to be booked direct with the hotel and which can booked through the hotel program central reservations depends very much on the specifics (both the hotel program and the specific rate).

cant imagine booking direct is ever problem with program?
(also for example, walk into hotel and booking at front desk)
would imagine some contract rates arent allowed by program
lower revenue would be similar to excl OTA (commission etc)
just found it interesting no mention of booking direct with hotel
