Isn't the PRG's 2x for restaurant/dining category only applicable to US restaurants? CSP's 2x for dining is international. CSP also covers a lot more types of business as "travel", earning 2x. AmEx is heads above Chase/Visa on customer service, though. And the AmEx can save you some $ internationally in avoiding DCC's.

You will get one point for each dollar charged for an eligible purchase in each billing period on your Premier Rewards Gold Card from American Express. You will get: 2 additional points (for a total of 3 points) for airfare on a scheduled flight charged directly with passenger airlines (charter flights and private jet flights are excluded); 1 additional point (for a total of 2 points) for each dollar charged at restaurants located in the US; 1 additional point (for a total of 2 points) for gasoline at gas stations located in the U.S. (superstores, supermarkets and warehouse clubs that sell gasoline are not considered gas stations); and 1 additional point (for a total of 2 points) for purchases at supermarkets located in the U.S. (superstores and warehouse clubs are not considered supermarkets). To get additional points for a restaurant purchase, the purchase must be at a restaurant located in the United States. You will NOT get additional points for purchases made at a restaurant owned by a U.S. company but located outside the U.S. (e.g. Hard Rock Café in Paris). You also will NOT get additional points for purchases at nightclubs, convenience stores, grocery stores, or supermarkets. You may not get additional points for purchases at a restaurant located within another establishment (e.g. a restaurant inside a hotel, casino, or event venue). For example, purchases made at a restaurant located within a hotel may be recognized as a purchase at a hotel, not a restaurant.

In the Wikipost of this thread we started a three way comparison between Premier Rewards Gold, Sapphire Preferred and Premier, but I think it is incomplete.

Bought two $50 AS gift cards 6/3 and 6/4. Reimbursement for the first one showed up today.
Edit 6/9: Both have now shown up, each about 5 days after the GC purchase.

I don't have an AMEX yet. I have a targeted offer for 50k MR with 1K spend. Should I apply for this card along with the Everyday MR (2 browser trick) so that I can merge the PRG's CL to the Everyday if I do not want to keep the PRG and pay AF?

By all means get the PRG for one year w/o AF, then you may decide to keep or not at renewal time. Definitely apply for Everyday card, so if you decide to close PRG the accumulated MR points from that card will stay in your Membership Rewards account. You see, Amex will likely give you the same MR account for both of your cards.
