Purchasing Channels
I think it's just a matter of the price available on the channel that Amex is purchasing airfare through. I had similar problems doing a points redemption with BMO World Elite Mastercard(CA). I had to redeem through their booking site and the prices weren't competitive on hotels.

The original price they quoted was higher than AC's domestic price (interior BC), but the agent was able to log into AC.com using her agent ID and book it at the rate I was seeing.

I've booked a flight on BA from YYZ-Europe. Price quoted by the AMEX Plat Travel agent was lower than what I found on ba.com.

Always within a couple bucks of the cheapest fare I could find... some not shown on matrix.itasoftware or airline website.
I always booked by phone.

I have the Amex Biz Plat and a supplementary gold card on the account. I spoke with a rep this morning who said I should be receiving 2 MR's on groceries gas and travel with this gold supp card. She even spoke with a supervisor who confirmed. My MR account doesn't reflect it though so she was going to escalate the inquiry. Does this sound possible?

Anyone know if the Fairmont fast track to Platinum benefit (complete 5 nights) that AMEX provides is valid every year or is it just for the achieving FPC Plat the first year?

It's valid every year as long as you keep the card...

The Plat (Canada) Line says that in order to upgrade my existing SPG membership to Gold as per their benefits, I need to call SPG. Their plat website says I need to call them (Amex). Is this a HUACA situation? How would SPG know if I have a plat amex?

I called the Platinum line and they did it for me when I provided them with my SPG number.

On my US plat, Amex called spg while I was on the line. I understand the way it works for the Canadian card is that Amex gives you a code that you then give to spg and then you get the status for a year

Hertz Gold 5-star status discontinued?
I obtained my Hertz Gold 5-star status through my Canadian Amex Plat card.
Today, I received a letter from Hertz citing that my 5-star status has been downgraded because I have not rented enough # of times to re-qualify.
Is this something new and another devaluation of the Canadian Amex Plat card?
It was CX MPC Gold, now Hertz too!?
