*** Limited time offer ***
Amex EveryDay 15000 MR points after $1000 in 3 months

The 15,000 MR points offer is still available via referral from someone who already has the card. See or ask for this in the discussion. Or look at the Amex referral page: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/amer...posting-3.html.

These are the direct links on americanexpress.com. I have not scoured the internet to seek better offers. Note that both offers include this standard language:

If we identify you as currently having an American Express Card account, you may not be eligible for this welcome bonus offer. This offer is also not available to applicants who have or have had this product.
Opening the application link in a Private or Incognito browser window, and not supplying any information about existing accounts, should prevent American Express from identifying you as currently having a card during the application process. They can still instantly determine this using your Social Security number, but in practice this may not occur.

Everyday Preferred (Groceries 3X, Gasoline 2X, General 1X; 50% bonus for 30 transactions in a billing cycle): - LINK

EARN 15,000 POINTS
Get 15,000 Membership Rewards points after you use your new Card to make $1,000 in purchases within the first 3 months.

ANNUAL FEE
$95 Annual Fee
--------------

Everyday (Groceries 2X, General 1X; 20% bonus for 20 transactions in a billing cycle): - LINK

EARN 10,000 POINTS
Get 10,000 Membership Rewards points after you use your new Card to make $1,000 in purchases within the first 3 months.

ANNUAL FEE
NO ANNUAL FEE
**You can now do a product change from AMEX Blue to the regular fee free AMEX EveryDay card. Unsure about other AMEX products that you can change TO the EveryDay card** This would probably preclude you from receiving any sign-up bonus, but moving from the Blue to this card is a + for some.

Use this calculator to work out whether you're better off with the preferred or regular card.

It's akin to the sign-up bonus for the Blue Cash Preferred. The real value is the MS you can create at groceries for 4.5x MR points.

Well, capped at $6K per year spend, so not exactly huge!

Current PRG owner. Have new EveryDay Preferred. Applied using incognito browser.

I sent a SM (well, I "left a message", since no one was available for live chat) to confirm my signup bonus/spend requirement and received the following response:

Thank you for writing in.

Welcome bonus offer linked to Amex EveryDay Card is to earn 10,000 Membership Rewards points after one uses the new Card to make $1,000 in purchases within the first 3 months.

However, this welcome bonus is only applicable for new applicants. As you currently have an American Express Card account, you may not be eligible for this welcome bonus offer.
Of course this is the wrong offer (it's for the non-preferred)... we'll see what happens.

Just to confirm, if I have a PRG right now with 100k in MR points, will I be able to keep those points if I open a new every day card and then cancel the PRG?

Open the Everyday card, make sure it links to your MR account. Once you confirm it's linked, close PRG.

I made this calculator to help those who are tossing up between the annual fee and no annual fee card. I didn't take into account the sign up bonus for simplicitys sake.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...kE&usp=sharing

I'll turn it into a traditional web calculator and add in sign up bonuses and PRG comparison if people find it interesting enough.

Since nobody replied. AmEx doesn't do a hard pull for CLI's. They are also pretty good at doing them. Request 3x whatever your current limit is, they'll either approve it or counter offer.

You can repeat the process every six months if succesfull. If not succesfull wait 90 days.

Thanks for the data point.

AmEx charge most merchants a flat fee + percentage, so I can't see them that bothered by it. What they will likely do is contact places such as Amazon and tell them to post multiple purchases over a short period (1-2 days) as one purchase and then both parties will get what they want. It's specifically stated in the ToS that they can do this, so I figure that's their game plan.

How do I use this? I can't modify it so I tried making a duplicate and downloading at XLSX, but it doesn't seem to do any actual computation.

Another data point:

1st statement closes on 4/6/14, already made the minimum spend and the multiple $0.15 Amazon transactions triggered the 30 purchase bonus. Just checked this morning and my 15,000 bonus MR points already posted.

How did it work for the bonused categories?

I know there's a lot of confusion as to whether the bonus categories will net 3x and 4.5x or whether they'll net 2.5x and 3.5x.

Probably too soon to know:

You will typically receive your 20% extra Membership Rewards points six to eight weeks after the billing period in which they were earned.

When I look at the pending points screen it shows that my wife earned 740 MR (spent $139.57 at grocery store) and I earned 1253 MR (spent $1.83 in-store 7/11 and $1052.21 non-bonus spend), for a total of 1993 MR points. The math doesn't seem to add up correctly. Seems too high, but I'm not complaining

Edit 4/21/14: I just realized the pending points were actually coming from my now closed PRG. That explains why the calculations were way off

For people poo-pooing the sign up bonus, it's better than the public Blue Cash Preferred bonus. 15k MR equals $150 in gift cards for a $95 fee, whereas the BCP gives you a $100 bonus for a $75 fee.

I think I might be an idiot. I didn't make it editable. Should work now. I'll make it into a proper calculator in the next couple of days since quite a few people have tried to access it and it won't really work if more than one person is using it at a time.

Do you need to do anything to link or it is automatically linked to existing MR account?
