Reminder: you must enroll and select Southwest as your airline BEFORE making a reimbursable purchase.
Some have suggested the need to wait several hours or even a day before making the purchase, but there are also several DPs that worked without waiting that long.
(BTW, you will often hear people refer to Southwest as WN. WN is the IATA code for Southwest Airlines. SW is the IATA code for Air Namibia.)
Caution: As of late July 2019, reports are that direct gift card purchases are no longer being reimbursed.

What does appear to work is buying flight tickets less than $100, OR using gift cards to get the charged amount down to less than $100.

I upgraded online few days ago. have to wait to get the new card? Can I now buy the SW GC to get the credit?

No, you're still okay. My previous ones coded as Category: Travel - Airline, and even says a ticket number and "Document Type: SPD/AIR FREIGHT". It still got reimbursed. That was for a $200 charge (in Nov 2018).

3/28 reimbursed in 3 credits. A $25, the exact amount of remainder of ticket (47 some change), and the rest towards the GC purchase.
Interesting it reimbursed my ticket with all the flight info.

I hit the Click here in the WIKI to enroll for SW airline and logged in but it says the following

I don't have the aspire card yet although Amex online is showing it as Aspire card. I upgraded from regular hilton online 4 days ago. I chatted with an agent and the rep said he did it for me and it will be processed in 24-48 hours.

Sorry for the ignorance, if I designated wn on Saturday would it be safe to purchase ebci on Monday? Also I have heard gift cards on mobile dont trigger the credit. If I click the above link will the gc purchase on the site trigger or do I need to buy from a desktop. Thanks In Advance.
