Reminder: you must enroll and select Southwest as your airline BEFORE making a reimbursable purchase.
Some have suggested the need to wait several hours or even a day before making the purchase, but there are also several DPs that worked without waiting that long.

(BTW, you will often hear people refer to Southwest as WN. WN is the IATA code for Southwest Airlines. SW is the IATA code for Air Namibia.)

Caution: As of late July 2019, reports are that direct gift card purchases are no longer being reimbursed.
To purchase click here: https://www.southwest.com/gift-card/create-card.html Caution: Do NOT login to your Southwest Rapid Rewards account when making the purchase.

What does appear to work is buying flight tickets less than $100, OR using gift cards to get the charged amount down to less than $100.

Always read the last few pages to get up-to-date DPs.

I bought $125 EGC 30 hours after setting to SW.

My ticket transaction says
"Flight Details
Ticket Number: 52600XXXXXXXX
Document Type: SPD/AIR FREIGHT"

It's also from Dallas, TX. EDIT: I think this only shows up once the charge posts.

I also bought real AS tickets to meet minimum spend and they are under
"Document Type: PASSENGER TICKET"

Haven't gotten the actual reimbursement credit yet, just shows up on the tracker, so will update.

How long did it take for it to show in tracker?

Yes I meant for GC. When it's pending, I believe it does show up as Travel - Airline, but after posting there is some additional categorization.

Yes my $125 just got reimbursed. Purchasing another now!
Nice! I purchased $200 yesterday with platinum. I read that some people not receiving reimbursement when they set their airline to SW and immediately make the eGC purchase.
I set my airline to SW less than 24 hours before I made eGC purchase, I hope that wasn’t an issue.

When the link is clicked to select the airline, it says "None of your benefits require the selection of a qualifying airline." I have Aspire card. Is it because Aspire doesn't require you to select the airline?

Airline selection is required. I suggest you call the number on the back of the card to make the selection.

I see the same error code as far back as 2015. Have you tried using an Incognito/Private browser session without logging in to your Southwest Airlines account? Have you tried calling the listed number to learn if the problem is specific to your account?

Do you mind sharign how did you get reimbursement for your SW gift card purchased. Did you contact AMEX customer service to ask for the reimbursement .

I contactedAmex to have my airline changes to SW on 3/8/2019. Then I buy SW giftcard on 3/10/2019 and has a charge details posted on my account similar to your post with ticket number and SPD/AIR FREIGHT , The charge was changes from pending to posted on 3/12/2019 . Until now, no automatically reimburse of the $125 shows up on my account.

I wonder what I can do now. Am I having a bad luck or AMEX is no longer reimbursement for SW gift card purchase.
