I redeemed points for a business class award to Europe that expires this December. Does it have to be redeemed by December or flown by December? I am stressed about finding award inventory since it seems these tickets are tied to biz class award buckets. Does anyone know?

Found the same thing today when after reading these follow up posts to the initial one I put up last month. I retried registering and it now shows as a separate bonus promo from the one back in the spring, so expect I'll earn a second 650 points when I fly JFK-ZRH later this month.

I generally use my points for lounge passes since I get NAmerican upgrades as an ExecPlat. AA even sends them by next day FedEx!

I wouldn't say double credits, but if you have both UPGRADE and BX20UPG2, then expect to get a bonus for the summer and a bonus for the fall assuming you have flights in both. I added UPGRADE after my flights in August, but before the statement was generated, and I received the bonus for that. Only UPGRADE was redeemed under promotions, so that's what leads me to think you will get two 650 credits.

If I have a BE ticket flying for example: JFK-LHR, CDG-JFK, can I pay the $150 fee and change the CDG-JFK return to LHR-JFK if space is available? All previous BE ticket changes I have made were to dates with the exact same routing and those have always been allowed at $150 as long as space is available, but wasn't sure if origin/destination changes are allowed.

Like 50ae, I now have two promotions in my account, except i have BX20UPG and BX20UPG2. I am trying to decide if I should book a roundtrip or one-way ticket for next weekend and do an award return since the fares are so high. Do you think booking two revenue one-ways would give me 650 points twice (1300 points total)? Or should I try adding UPGRADE as well if BX20UPG will show up as expired when I go to use it?

Do you have to FLY by 30 Sept to get the 650 points, or just REGISTER by then?

I also registered for both- flew one round trip (two segments) and received credit for the promotion I registered for first ( I believe it was UPGRADE). Flying this weekend so hoping the second promo will post.

In other news- BE hit an all time low in competence for me- they posted all my flights for July but in every single case (for all participants) only the outbound segment (s) posted.

Edit: looking back it seems this happened to other people as well in July. I'm just a little behind :)

Got 650 back in the spring, and 650 a couple of days ago.

No complaints, but what a confused process this has been.

Glad you said something about this. I had an outbound that did not post in early July. The inbound did. Didn't notice it until I went back and double-checked.

I had also sent an email to BE support and got a response a day or two later saying the issue with BX20UPG was resolved. Then, magically, sometime this week, I received 650 for UPGRADE and 650 for BX20UPG dated September 15.
I have not had an AA flight since early summer. I guess I missed the original registration and maybe you could actually count flights before the registrations. Either way, a nice 1300 points

Early this year I received points for BX20UPG;
On 9/15 I received 650 for UPGRADE
Now waiting to see if BX20UPG2 post.

Read a few pages back. I don't know if this was a system-wide issue, but many had the same problem.

There is no charge for lap infants for domestic flights in any class, so there would not be a charge to upgrade the infant

Will BE allow you to book an upgrade award [obviously with required inventory being open] if you don't have the paper cert in hand, if it's been redeemed and the certificate is in transit?

Based on my recent experiences with a few of these certs, this should be possible. The agent typically asks for the expiration date and for the cert number. You should be able to figure out the expiration date based on the date you ordered/redeemed the cert. As for the cert number, I'm usually at work or otherwise away from home (where the cert is) when calling in to make the request, I tell the agent as such, and I've never encountered any resistance. YMMV though, and if you come across an agent who refuses to apply the cert without you giving him/her the number, you could try HUCA-ing.

Just a quick question about upgrade priority. Where is the upgrade hierarchy does an EXP using a BXP1 cert land? Is it with others using SWUs or does it not matter and ill get upgraded as if I wasn't using anything?

They all have the same priority now - SWU, Miles+Copay, BXP1.

So an EXP with an SWU would not be ahead of or behind an EXP with a BXP1 on the basis of the upgrade instrument being used.

Can BE points be requested on flights booked through AA vacations, chase/Amex/Citi rewards, OTAs, or other third parties?

For Chase/Amex/Citi, etc - yes. As long as the flight is operated by a valid carrier you should get credit. I usually do a flight credit request after the fact but I suppose you could call and add your BE number to the reservation ahead of time.

When your flight is cancelled and you fly on a different carrier instead: can / should you ask Business Extra to post Original Routing Credit ?

You can do anything but I'd wait until you can get it credited on your AA account first before attempting this.

Because of the July Fiasco (where tickets in July were only partially posted), I decided to go back and audit a year's worth of my Business Extra postings. Wow, the discrepancies are huge. I'm gonna send them a spreadsheet of the missing transactions.

These kinds of transactions are always missing:

1. If any segment of your ticket is signed over to another carrier (due to IRROPS), the _entire_ ticket is missing from Business Extra
2. AA Vacations

Also, at first glance, it appears that if you have a schedule change after departure (for example, SDFC on the return trip) then the _entire_ ticket is missing from Business Extra.

I'm glad I did an audit of my past year's activity. 43 segments are missing, which is somewhere around 30 percent of all activity.

OK, I went back and checked July and it is looking like each of my flights is showing way less points than it should. I sent a letter to business extraa and requested they look at it. Is this all I need to do?

I recently called and got four BXP1 upgrades applied to an upcoming flight (C availability was there). I did not have the cert numbers as I had not even redeemed the points for the certs yet, but the agent was able to apply the upgrades (and they showed up on AA.com).

I redeemed the points and now have the certs. Is it worthwhile to call Meeting Services and apply the cert numbers? Any danger of the upgrades suddenly disappearing because the cert numbers aren't in there?

Is it better to add the lap infant before applying the BXP1 upgrade? Or does it not really matter?

I usually just fill out the web form and send them the PNR after booking. They can manually add the BE number.

Im new to Business Extra but have accrued about 13,000 points this year and I do not know the best way to redeem them.

In this hypothetical, I am flying from BNA to LHR round trip 10/22-10/28. What is my best way/chance of using an upgrade?

If I read the wiki correctly, to extend points I cannot use before they expire, I can request an upgrade certificate. Example: points expiring at the end of this year, request an upgrade cert, can use it anytime in 2018. (I understand I need to purchase B, N, O, Q or S)

Is that correct?

With SWUs, I'd often use a single certificate to upgrade up to three AA flights between Europe and South America, for example, CDG-MIA-BSB or MAD-JFK-MIA-BSB.

When using Business Extra Upgrade Certificates (BXP3), as long as my underlying flight is in the appropriate booking class, do I correctly understand that TWO certificates would be required for such itineraries? Or, in practice, could one BXP3 be used for the entire one-way ticketed routing?

Both my spouse and I have BE accounts for our respective businesses. Is there anything verbotten about me taking one flight in each account?

I had received BX20UPG by email and I asked if it was targeted, businessextra agent said yes, is that true?

I have people I have never heard of somehow use my BE number.
That is how I earned a bonus for travel to China once.
I don't think AA publishes specific rules restricting who can use your BE number, but I would argue, especially in a community property state, both businesses belong to both people.

Is there a way to know whether your company is using a business extra number on corporate booked itineraries?
