Welcome 236Dakota,
Business Extra® account number: XXXXXXX

Dear 236 Dakota,

This year is the Business Extra® program’s 20th anniversary, and we want you to help celebrate with 650 bonus points. Just register using code BX20UPG and take one flight within 30 days of registering, that’s it. Register by March 30 and that next flight could earn you points for a one-segment upgrade within and between North America and Hawaii or the Caribbean. It's just our way of saying thank you to our members for 20 years of truly rewarding travel. Register now »

I saw this in my newsletter yesterday. One of their better promos. Thanks AA!

My question is: Does this "bonus" 650 miles/points have to be redeemed for the upgrade award? It reads as if our accounts will be credited with this bonus, but there are other awards that could be redeemed if this tops up a company's account. I've just flown a qualifying flight and will have three more over the next couple of days, but not sure I'd want to redeem for an upgrade voucher.

I highly doubt a program that still uses paper certificates has the technology in place to "earmark" the 650 for a BXP1. If they wanted to do that, they would just send you a BXP1 and not bother with crediting the points.

It's not a loophole per se. When you book with BXP1, you are instructed to surrender the certificate at check-in or you will lose your seat assignment. Some people thought check-in was at the gate, and completely by-passed the ticketing agent.

sometimes things just slip through the cracks. Do I feel guilty double dipping, not one bit. AA has done nothing but bring on one negative change after another in the last year. I'll take whatever I can get. If that means double dipping on these, I'll gladly do it.

The promo said they're giving you 650 points; "enough for a free upgrade," but you don't have to use it for such. In the past, they've given 300 points (enough for an AC day pass), but again, you could bank it.

I'm not saying you should feel guilty, but I don't want to hearing hemming and hawing from you if they eventually catch up to you. :D

Just joined. Can anyone us my number to give me points? Familty? Colleagues?

For existing reservations is it enough to have my family members add my BE number to their profiles or do I need to have the number manually added by having them call in?

I usually email reservation references to BusinessExtra and they can add your number. You need to do this if there are schedule changes and your ticket is re-issued.

That's was my assumption.

My wife has a business extra account. I assume that my flights that are booked by my companies corporate travel agent aren't eligible as they probably have their own business extra number, but I thought I'd double check.

Also wondering if anyone is successful in applying a business extra number to a ticket booked by a corporate agent but upgraded personally to first class.

If no business extra number is in there already, I don't think there's ever a problem adding yours -- just from my experience.

Ok, for those of you who are also the travel mgrs. for your company w/the BusinessExtra program, where did the list of all enrolled travelers, including their AA#'s, go on the website?

Am pulling my hair out trying to find where the list of all my travelers went

I think it's gone. It used to be at the same level in the menu as "Travel Managers" is now. With only a few colleagues traveling on my account, that page never added any value for me, but I do remember it and can't find it now.

Are there any issues crediting EQM to a different program (e.g. Alaska) while credit to business extra? Or are we only allowed to credit to AA?

You can do that, on a flight I credited to BA and AABE.
