“The flight(s) or fare selected... no longer available.”
For paid fares, this is often an indication that fare bucket is no longer available, or if a segment on another airline available the system is experiencing difficulties in completing the booking. For the latter, a call may resolve the issue and should be free of charge because the itinerary was not bookable on the aa.com site.
For awards, that can mean the available award has been taken up since you saw it, there was a phantom report shown, or an internal error occurred.

This sort of problem happens to me all the time, no matter what browser, operating system or type of Internet connection I use. Usually, if I wait a few hours and try again, the problem disappears.
In those few situations where the fare is quite low and I want to book the ticket immediately, I will give Web Services a call. Even though I know it won't help, they always make me clear cache and cookies, restart the browser, and try again. Then when that isn't successful, they give it a go themselves. Only when the transaction fails on their own machines will they attempt to make the booking and force the price. It always takes a while.
If it helps, the only "trick" that sometimes helps is to make the booking without being logged in. But that only seems to work some of the time.

ugh... this is really irritating, especially when they don't even tell you which flight is the problem (having 6 segments probably didn't help). I am using a few gift cards so I can't go to 3rd party sites. I just want to give them my money, why wouldn't they take it

This "not available" problem when making a reservation does not seem to be improving but only deteriorating. AA is going to have to solve this pesky problem soon or risk losing a significant number of top paying customers. I don't like using Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity or most of the other sites, but AA is leaving little choice without quick remediation.

finally got it done... signed up for a trial of ExpertFlyer and figured out which flights were at Q0 and changed to ones that were not. There might have been ways to figure out which available flights were cheaper but at this point I just want to finish and go to bed... it's still not ticketed yet (at "purchased" right now), hopefully there wouldn't be any more problems.
I don't understand how a third-party company can give accurate info and they can't figure out their internal inventory. Maybe AA should get a subscription of EF.
^^ Again thumb up to ExpertFlyer ^^

Reviving this thread
I had this come up repeatedly on multiple dates for a trip I was looking to book. EF showed Q7 O2 on nearly every flight. Finally I called the EXP desk-- they were able to book the flight with no problems!

No idea but I've had this happen a LOT in the past few weeks trying to book a simple one way TATL with one connection. AA.com showing availability, AAgent does not. Since then I've just been checking KVS since it seems as reliable as the phone rep. It's extremely frustrating to try to book online though (and the phone fee wasn't waived when I finally booked!).

“The flight(s) or fare related is no longer available.”
I haven't had this message in a long time---but I've been trying to book ORD/NRT/BKK since last night for late November. I get this message no matter which day, flight, or class of service I choose. Even a $11,000+ fare is "no longer available". I want to apply SWU's, so I need to study my possibilities online before calling EXP desk. This is so annoying. AA makes it hard to buy a ticket.

A SWU will only work on AA operated and marketed flights (no codeshares).

Fares not available
Thanks---good to know I'm not alone. As JDiver says, icksnay on the SWU on codeshares. I'd rather have a through ticket, so that AA can own any issues. But I'll check out pricing nonetheless.

I had this issue a few weeks ago when booking a roundtrip RDU-SIN. I observed AA.com, ITA, my AMEX corporate booking web tool, etc think there is availability at a fare bucket that is not (e.g. think K is available when H is actually the cheapest fare). Interestingly enough, EF shows correct. If you call AA.com, they can book the proper fare via the phone to get all AA flight numbers. This was a business booking for me, and I was able to book via AMEX on phone as well.

Understood about the through ticket, but this little gem has come up a lot lately in threads:
OW protection on separate tickets
