Welcome to FT. These changes were announced earlier this morning and as expected they are already being widely discussed in the threads below.

I just want to take this opportunity to again say how good the Loyalty Points program is. Like certainly a lot of things to complain about with AA...but the LP program is the best elite/status program in the US. No question.
Couldn't agree more. I've been missing a lot more upgrades this year and was considering trying BA for the same MCE seats I'm already relegated to and Flagship Lounge access, but I just can't allow myself to miss out on the mileage earning. The ability to consistently score 6k Y and 16k J redemptions (on the dates I want to/need to fly) makes AA the clear winner for me.

BA has fewer MCE equivalent seats (only bulkhead and exit row), they earn the same in both miles/LPs and MM as they swapped to spend from distance earning

Edit: I just realized you probably mean flying AA and crediting to BA. Whoops

I meant flying AA and crediting to BA, as status on BA would allow me to select MCE at booking and grant me lounge access on domestic itineraries.

Just saw your edit! All good!

Per the new SWU rules. I still haven't selected this years 175k and 250k, on 3/1/25 if I select SWU are they good until 3/31/27? Or is it for future selections earned in 2025?

Not accurate but close. currently on my bag at the AC DCA. So BIS and CC if you started early and flew often. Joined as a baby 1982. Used an AA branded CC. Was mostly BIS. Now its BIS as described. So back to my comment, will see if a blended 4mm makes PP. many millions of comments before suggested that CC and BIS were not tracked for most of the program before BIS only locked in.

Isn't that what I said, I basically said that before 8 years ago, CC/bonus counted?

Haven't flown too much this year!
Would you happen to know if you also receive the hotel points in addition to the airline points? Example: if you were to book a Marriott hotel via AA and are part of the Bonvoy program, do you receive both Bonvoy and Advantage points?

I'm not terribly impressed with the million miler changes. It is taking AA's program from SUPER behind to super behind. If they were intent on using these higher limits (I mean they are still a joke compared to UA, DL, AS), they could've come up with something new, like counting all award travel including partners towards the MM program.

What do you mean? I may need in this group if there's a magic way. The only ways I know now are finding deals on Book AA Hotels, I already did the Motley Fool, etc. I used to find cheap business flights at long distances with partners but even that seems gone.

Well, AA and Hyatt were certainly linked up and still are, but as of January 1, you won't earn any miles/LPs/points on the other program unless you specifically choose to earn the OTHER program insetad of the direct program, which is usually a horrible deal.

Believe it or not, it's been 13 years. Change went into effect December 1, 2011.

I think AA should have done something more complicated to access the MM.
Perhaps - set max. starting amount based on age - assuming you exceed these levels.
Say
Max of 2 MM to start if under 30 years old.
Max. of 2.5 MM to start if 31 to 40 years old.
Max of 3 MM to start if 41 to 50
Max of 3.5 MM to start if 51 to 60
Max of 4MM to start if 61 to 70
Max of 4.5mm to start if 71 to 80.
Max. of 5mm to start if 81+ which is LT EXP.

And likely make it graduated within those levels. - so 50K Miles added for each year from the bottom age of the group.

These would keep young people with large MS and churn from instant status.
And all those people that got lots of 100K bonus for CC which used to count too.

The old design was so much better
