First time in First Class
I recently upgraded to First Class on a night flight and I'm on an AA 737-800 seat 1F at a bulkhead. Should I change my seat? What are others experiences in First Class on AA?
|
What other seats are available?
Domestic F gets you a bigger seat, unlimited drinks, and a few passes of the snack basket (there won't be a meal service for a late night flight). |
1F doesn't have the best leg room and you will have to stow you personal item up top, but you have the benefit of no one in front of you. I personally like 2F the best.
Without knowing the length of your flight. You may or may not get a pre-takeoff beverage depending mostly on the mood of the flight attendants. If it is a short flight you will get drink service after takeoff plus a selection of snacks. If it is a longer flight you should get your choice of breakfast, lunch, or dinner based on departure time. Otherwise, you will mostly get a bigger seat and a little better service from the FA's. One of my favorite parts about the 737-800 first seat is there is a little storage cubby under one of your arms that will hold a phone, table, or small laptop. Unless you are really looking it is easy to miss. As much as people like to complain about first sometimes, it is much better than coach. Enjoy your flight. |

OP do you mean a trans con red eye flight or simply an evening flight like DFW-IAH?
|
For some reason, all the seats on the left side of the plane are available (1A, 1B, 2A,2B,3A,3B, 4A, 4B and 4E and 4F

2E seat is occupied.I'd rather not have a seat mate :)
I'd select a non-bulkhead row because bulkhead legroom is restricted and on such a short flight I'd like access to my bag. You can expect free drinks and a pass of the snack basket with gourmet items like chips ahoy |

Lots of elites on this route so barring something crazy every seat will be full from upgrades; I would pick the non-bulkhead but it doesn't make much of a difference. I usually go non-bulkhead so I don't have to worry about boarding early to find a good spot for my laptop bag. If you're flying Tuesday see you on board :) |
I like the bulkhead seats. It gets you off the plane first. YMMV

Personally I would pick 1A or 1F on this flight. I don’t usually need access to my laptop bag in flight. |
The bulkhead is a preference thing, you either like it or hate it, I personally prefer the second row, I fly the route a lot and first is almost always full, 7 days out you will begin to see upgrades clear and the cabin will begin to fill up, in all honesty these days what first gets you is a slightly larger seat, quick access to the door, early boarding. You may or may not get a pre departure beverage this is really crew dependent these days.
