This used to be a meal flight -- it was an exception to the 900-mile rule, but it was nevertheless a dinner flight. Has that changed?
|
The big drawback to trying F is that OP may find that they like it too much and can no longer bear to travel in the back.:)

$68.00 is a very good deal and well worth it for a 2 hour flight. Enjoy your trip in First Class.

But should I stay in 1F with the bulkhead or move to another seat in the back, like 4F?
For some reason, all the seats on the left side of the plane are available (1A, 1B, 2A,2B,3A,3B, 4A, 4B and 4E and 4F |

Domestic F is almost always full due to unlimited domestic upgrades for any elite. Especially on a hub to hub, there is a 0% chance the plane will take off with any empty seats in F.

$68 would be a no-brainer if you were checking bags.

I don't understand what checking bags have to do with it. It's still a low price for First Class
Every time I say "eh, maybe it's not worth it" and I end up in coach, I am reminded how much it sucks compared to first class. Not that first class is anything special, but for me the value is in avoiding the chore that is economy travel -- the waiting forever to get seated and get off the plane, the bigger struggle for bin space or elbow room or leg space, the larger quantity of people everywhere. All that. |

As noted in a previous thread, I got the opportunity to upgrade to First Class on an American Airlines flight 737-800 ORD-DCA.
But the flight AA1608 leaves Ohare at 6:50 and gets into DCA around 10 pm There is a flight I can transfer to, AA1269 that leaves ORD 6:21 am and lands in DCA at 9:20 am. Same plane, no cost to upgrade. Not a fan of waking up early to get to the airport but should I take this day's flight, the first flight out, and not be prone to delays? What if the night flight is delayed?

I like the bulkhead if I'm planning to work on my laptop. I'd also recommend the bulkhead if you get up often to use the restroom, as you will likely be able to get out without 1E needed to get up. Otherwise, I'd take 4F.
I had my laptop broken by an overzealous idiot shoving stuff into the overhead bin. That was the end of the bulkhead for me. |

I've never had an issue with laptop space on non-bulkhead seats; the exception being the LUS a320s where the recline is so much greater than the pitch).

Did you make him pay for the laptop? Did the airline compensate you? Just wondering.
