How are my award miles only half of my elite qualifying miles, in Main Cabin?

I flew main cabin last week and the actual miles flown were 1,120 across 2 segments, with my account credited appropriately with 1,120 elite qualifying miles. However, I've only been awarded 561 "award" miles. Again, I was in Main Cabin (Basic Economy wasn't even offered). Does anyone know how I would have only earned half of the miles actually flown?

Update: Sorry - never mind, I think I figured it out. I thought all Main Cabin tickets earned miles per mile flown, but apparently some fare classes only get half. Mine is 0 fare class. At least elite qualifying points are still full points. Of course, this only matters for a few more weeks before LP's set in.

Thanks!

Assuming this flight was on AA metal then the award miles you earn are based solely on the price of the ticket, ranging from 5 miles per dollar for no-starus to 11 for EXP.
