So annoying and lazy, especially on late afternoon / evening flights.

Pre COVID that was standard fare for many LAA FAs. Better than my flight yesterday (Envoy MIA/ORF). Stood at the gate for over 20 minutes. No PDBs but endless announcements on how to properly wear the mask.

Flying LAX - FAT back in the day with SkyWest and a single FA on the small CRJ would usually see a full beverage service. The FA would usually tell people to make sure they knew what they wanted as there wasn't time for indecision. When the same route switch to Compass on the Embraer 175 with two FAs there was only beverage service in F, not in coach. Nicer plane perhaps, but service was not as good.

Flying LAS - LAX on mainline was always good for a beer or two in coach until they did away with the full service and switched to water and OJ only. LAS - PHX is just over the 250 mile limit I believe but it also took a service knock with no service other than water and juice in coach.

I have a bunch of AA flights next week and the week after so will be interesting to see what the PDB situation is on those. I'm sure it will be pot luck :)

Had a PDB on my flight yesterday from KOA to LAX. We were on an A321 so the attendant had to move quickly, but he got everyone the drink of their choice before doors closed.

Had two flights, MSY-CLT and CLT-JFK, a few days back and neither offered PDB. Service in the air was above average on the first flight and great on the second.

PDB was already rare pre-COVID, so I'm definitely not counting on getting them now.

What's the official policy for Eagle flights these days? Are PDB supposed to be back yet? ....i realize actually getting one is a whole other thing though.

My recent experience: MIA/ORF: nada; ORF/DCA: zip; CLT/PIT: yes (and I needed one yesterday). Let's see what PIT/MIA brings today.

I received a PDB on ORD-PHL Friday. Great service overall with constant refills and passes of the snack basket, although I do wish AA would offer something a little more substantial on hub-hub routes on mainline, even if they're <900 miles.

This was also followed by awful ground service, with bags taking over an hour to come out and the rudest check in agent I have ever encountered on the return trip. As always, avoid PHL at all costs, but at least in the air service is getting better.

Think about how SAFE you were though... 🙏

Had a recent LAX-LAS on 20F A321 that managed a full PDB, 2 drink rounds in the air, and a personal thank you for my status. I admit to not caring (expecting) much about these things but I was impressed.

Of course, since everything is zero-sum, the return on a 737 managed an unexplainable 1hr delay (couldnt find the crew) and the ”standard” 1 drink round in the air.

I have had PDBs on several mainline flights (even on narrowbodies) now but in typical AA fashion, doesn't seem to be consistent

3/11 AA 2612 ATL-CLT A-320: Full PDB
3/11 AA 465 CLT-SAN A-321: Full PDB, impressive too as we were delayed due to a late inbound
3/13 AA 480 SAN-PHX A-321: No PDB
3/13 AA 1644 PHX-RDU A-321: No PDB

Just like the AA of yore: inconsistent.

3/5 PHL-CVG & CVG-JFK = American Eagle = No PDB. Expected. Flight attendant on PHL-CVG asked me for my drink order before takeoff, which got me excited. But nope. Got server during the flight.

3/5 JFK-MAD: Full PDB, plastic cup :(. Nice getting peanuts and a hot towel too.

aj411 Mar 15, 2022 8:11 am

3/10 ORD>MCI No PDB A319. Overall good once in the air with refills and the FA asked if I wanted a double with my G&T right off the bat

3/14 MCI>ORD Proactive PDB. E175, short flight. Amazing flight attendant

3/14 ORD>RST. No first so no PDB but FA was very proactive with greeting EXP on board and gave a full can of soda on the beverage service - this is a very short flight and I didn't come close to finishing the can

It really seems as if there's no formal monitoring system in place preventing FAs from doing whatever the heck they want. I had a friend back in the early 2000s who served as an AA FA supervisor and he'd go on what he called "check rides" every so often to ensure that FAs were following all of the proper procedures. Sure seems like times have changed.

I was on AA 480 on 3/11 & also had no PDB.
